Post a pic of your starcraft!

I've come to love the look of the Mariner, who knows maybe one day I'll tear into one of them. ;)

1975 Starcraft SS 16' Freshen Up

I'm more than happy to help out anyway I can! :) Nice to see you're progressing towards the finish line with some nice work (y)

    Newbie with 76 holiday

Oh man paint striping is the worst and doing it upside down on your back makes it almost unbearable. You can have the motor pulled in an hour. From your pics it looks to me like that is the original white washed transom and the front motor mount is original too. Both really should be replaced.

    My Starcraft

Yeap it's a Chief, by the looks of it late 60's.

    1968 StarCraft Holiday restoration

Looking good, won't be long now. (y) No anti fouling paint on AL boats especially freshwater and since it contains copper to inhibit sea life growth in salt water it could cause corrosion.

Shoestring Starcraft SS160 Resto-mod - let the long slow road begin

Yeah the console fitment by SC was very, shall I say sloppy to say the least. My SS got 1/2" base decking with the raised decking fore and aft being 5/8". Still my console on the port side had to be shimmed to make for that perfect fit I was looking for. I used 2 pieces stacked of .080 AL...

    1979 Starcraft 16’ SS Refresh

Always nice to see one of these old gals sporting a new dress. Nice work and I'm glad to hear you enjoyed the process, that makes it much more memorable.

    1974 Starcraft SS 22’ Transformation

Yes a 1979 18' V5 SS and if you think that's deep you should see it next to the 22' V5 Islander hull. Hey no problem, and yeah it's a V5. SC for sure really added nice features to include a redesigned splashwell.

    1974 Starcraft SS 22’ Transformation

The top pic is factory under the ribs. Yeah solid riveted the braces. I used adhesive remover and pressure washer to get that old glue off my 79 SS. You can see the glue removal progress and the factory braces.

    1974 Starcraft SS 22’ Transformation

Awesome, I'm glad you are considering the braces. The "correct" placement for the braces is under the rib ends, although the ribs in the older boats are not bent at the end to accommodate the brace like the factory so it would put another stress point by adding the brace under the straight rib...

    1974 Starcraft SS 22’ Transformation

Nice big tin there, she'll make a great multi purpose boat. A 22'r is not an easy find and certainly not an easy size to just whip through. Looks like you've got the tear down done, now for clean up and repairs. I see your 74 doesn't have the rib end braces, be sure to examine it closely for any...

    1979 Starcraft 16’ SS Refresh

The comment about the Rusto AL primer is that it was not oil based like the paint I use, it's latex based and I didn't want to have them mixed in my one day mad man paint job using chemical bonding between all 4 layers. You'll be fine with the day between as far as primers go they're rough and...

    1979 Starcraft 16’ SS Refresh

Sounds more relaxed than my crazed mad man all in one day paint jobs. LOL One thing I would do is get that boat up off the ground, I laid the 16'r over tables draped in drop cloth. Also more lighting will help too.

Oh yeah those Opti's are a fine motor.

Height of transom to waterline when resting in water

Holly's have a very light bow so that angle will add to your SW taking on water. I see no issue with what you're describing and that weight of 363 is nothing, my 18' Chief has an 800 lb cast iron V6 in the back albeit it's a full size IO transom.

1982 Starcraft Center Console 18' Rebuild

The modified brazier heads are the more narrow of the brazier heads. Modified brazier in 3/16 dia has a head dia of .390 while the brazier is .469. @Hodgey4489 It's only going to possibly matter which you use brazier or mod brazier when working on replacing close together rivets in the seams...

Unable to login at website to order

I see there's currently an issue with processing cards in a banner but I'm not able to login to my account at the shopping side to place an order. Says my username or password is incorrect when it is. Guess I will try to order as a guest and see if that gets it done for me. Thanks. (Edit: that...

    1965 Starcraft Holiday Restomod

The easiest part of the job is dropping the motor back in place. Then comes the alignment which isn't that tough if you center the gimbal bearing first in the transom assembly by inserting the bar until it engages the coupler and tapping on all 4 sides of the bar.

Anyone own a big hardtop Chief?

In my little Chief cabin I found room to make a porta-potty work and look good as well.
