    Need different prop for pulling

You are being your own worst enemy here.....Mash that throttle on the holeshot. It's not about speed, it's about getting that large mass moving The 5.0 is still too small for the boat

    China propeller

some of the prop manufacturers use off-shore sources. without doing digging, it may be as good as other props. or it may be a really bad knock-off.

Merc Alpha One trim/tilt Q (feeling like a newby)

you wont find a manual that you can download. short of the manuals listed here https://forums.iboats.com/threads/boat-manuals-owners-manuals.770690/ they do not exist. no, do not run your motor higher than the trim limit. it puts the u-joints in a bind and will wear them out really really...

    VP 2007 3L 135HP engine oil options

your motor is a flat tappet motor. I would stick with dino squeezings high in zinc, like Rotella T4 15W-40 as for the outdrive, use a marine gear lube that meets volvo's requirements.

google V-hull wander. all single prop V-hulls do it. duo-prop singles also do it to a slightly lesser degree. Not a thing that you can do to stop it but let it wag back and forth.

Mercruiser dies after getting on temp

points when cranking get their voltage from the starter "R" terminal (also called "I" terminal). however for normal Key-on, they get power thru a resistor wire, or a ballast resistor to drop voltage to approximately 9 volts. you can run them "hotwired" to 12 volts for a short period of time...

    Need different prop for pulling

unless your motor was built to need higher octane, it will NOT give you more power, it will give you less power and cost you more money at the pump as Octane goes up, the ability for the fuel to ignite is decreased (allowing a higher base timing to move the timing curve). This is increased...

    Need different prop for pulling

when I had a 3.0, I had 3 props with me. a 19p for WOT runs, a 17p for most things and a 15p for watersports as Jimmbo stated, your boat is a bit much for a 5.0 your 3400# dry weight will be closer to 4200 once you add batteries, gear, fuel, etc. I would shoot for a 17p myself if you...

    aluminum prop comparison

need to see what RPM you are turning at WOT with the throttle lever mashed lugging a motor will not only kill it, it will burn more fuel. see the first sticky in the prop forum. have the answers to those 6 questions.

    Stalled and never started again

even new points in a package need the contacts filed. a film of corrosion will cover the points from non-use and they simply wont fire. being a 3.0, rough gap at 0.016", set dwell to 32 degrees, set timing to 4 BTDC. if the dwell meter doesnt show a reading while cranking, go back to the points.

    Stalled and never started again

first, welcome aboard second, its nearly never the coil third. explain how you set the points. most likely the initial issue was the points needed adjustment. did you file the points? did you set the rough gap? what was the dwell? what did you set the timing to?
