    Might want to try the trouble shooting tree in the service manual. If I remember correctly it will have you test for voltage and continuity in a few places. I’m going off of memory here. There are 3 revisions of the ECM 555 manual. At least one of them will have the reason as to why this code...

    Yes, I've done it many times. Tie a rope to the wrench and your wrist so you don't drop it. And be careful about not losing the thrust washer.

    This isn't correct. The big o-ring is the most important part in keeping the bellows dry. The paper gasket is secondary. As long as the water that came out of all 8 u-joint bearing wasn't rusty, you are probably ok. Same for the gimbal bearing.

    I don’t see a water intake hose in the quote. Suggest you do that while you’re in there. Price is about right. As I used to tell customers, just think of all the money you saved by not doing the yearly maintenance. If you factor that in, it’s only $2000 for this repair.

    If you mean the input shaft running in reverse --- yes. But it is using the forward clutch pack. You can't just put a RH prop on the end of the shaft and shift the trans into reverse like you can with a Hurth.

    OH YA ---- so true. The procedure you described is how most quality shops do it since the low permeation fuel lines came out. They are almost impossible to get off without cutting them.
