Another big Cobalt. Just some tiny damage on the swim platform and buff the sides for this one.

Just finished this little job. Fixed cracks, sprayed a small sliver of black and bottom silver stripe.

    Bulkhead Stress Crack Repair

I've never seen a bulkhead gapped like you describe. The purpose of the putty is so there isn't a gap. When we replace them, putting them same as factory, we get as tight of a fit as possible. The putty is to attach the edges to the hull, and to prevent air voids behind the glass.

    Bulkhead Stress Crack Repair

The bulkhead SHOULD be attached to the hull. It's part of the structure of the boat, along with the stringers. Cracks can happen for lots of reasons. As cyclops said, need pics.

The fan and shutters were already there. All I did was the box on the inside. It was the only one in the shop that didn't have one.

Not boat related, but I just finished making this box around one of our exhaust fans. I also finished the Cobalt, but I forgot to take pictures and it's gone now.

    Transom replacement.

Wait, did you already roll the whole area before you were done with the color? If you put catalyst in that, then job's done now. Also, with gel you need to peel your tape line as soon as you're done. If you leave it on and the gel hardens, you'll have to cut along the tape line with a razor...

1973 starcraft ss restore in progress

Why not just lift the motor, rest it in place on the transom (but still supported with engine lift), and use the mounting plate as the guide?

Best buffing compound or cleaner wax

Yes, the TR is heavier than the pace. TR on wool pad for initial buff and sanding scratches, Pace on white foam for buffing swirls, 3M on black foam for final polish. The "heavy cut" is relative. It probably is for automotive clear (but I still do the same process on that), but not on gel coat...

Best buffing compound or cleaner wax

Here's what I use at work. Pads adjacent to their respective buffing compounds, corse left to finest right.

    Modifying a 1975 Trail-R-Craft

This might be a dumb idea, but can you just shorten the trailer? Cut out a section of the frame and move the back forward where you want it.

    Prime and Paint Aluminum Boat

As long as you can keep a consistent pattern and don't sag it, it wouldn't be that hard. It would actually be a bit easier with single stage because it builds thick enough to cover the sanding scratches better. The downside is that if you sag the paint, you might have to respray the side...

    Replacing wood for hatch covers

Grind the surface with a rough grit. Just enough to scuff it and clean all the old wood off. Clamp it down with thickened resin. Then a layer of csm with polyester resin over the bare wood to seal. Good as new.

    Boats from work.

The owner of this boat which was white, had us paint it. He also bought a big ladder, I think it's electric. To fitit, the swin platform is being extended by 20 inches.

    Prime and Paint Aluminum Boat

Ok I read your post again, because I was at work and distracted the first time. So grey on the bottom, blue sides. Where does the silver (for some reason I thought it was gold) from the original plan come in? As striping in the blue?

    Prime and Paint Aluminum Boat

First, I'm imagining two colors on one surface, like blue primary with a gold stripe. What I'm picturing may not be what you intend. Anyway, here's a quick example. Grey lower, black upper, butted up against each other. If I was spraying grey first, I would cover most of the black, leaving a...

82 Starcraft MR 180 floor, slight refit and leaks

I would scrape it out in pieces. Grinding it out is going to make a huge mess that will stick to you like crazy. Foam dust is really clingy and annoying.
