    2012 VP 300 C-A Exhaust manifolds getting too hot - DTC 441 & 442

That's where to start, some need longer some need faster. Sounds like idle speeds are not enough. And do this in the water or at least make sure the engine is level.

ECM Swap ? Plug and play ???

I’ve been retired for a few years so my information is a bit outdated. But back then if I needed a ECM, I would order by serial number. I wasn’t allowed to order a high output ECM for a standard engine. The only people who could load a program was Volvo or their dealer support tech, he carried a...

    2012 VP 300 C-A Exhaust manifolds getting too hot - DTC 441 & 442

I should have said the only reason the small hose is there is to bleed the air out.

    2012 VP 300 C-A Exhaust manifolds getting too hot - DTC 441 & 442

Don’t rev the engine. Slowly increase RPMs. Check the small hose I mentioned earlier. That’s there to bleed the air out.

    2012 VP 300 C-A Exhaust manifolds getting too hot - DTC 441 & 442

I drained mostly empty first. A couple of reasons. If the tool starts sucking coolant it will make a antifreeze mist that I don’t want to breath. Also it really slows down how fast you can draw a vacuum and my labor charge was more then the cost of coolant. Plus new coolant is better than old...

    2012 VP 300 C-A Exhaust manifolds getting too hot - DTC 441 & 442

When filling the cooling system, it can be tough to get all the air out. Generally speaking you want the RPMs up to about 1500. Some engines can be really hard. Back in the late 90s/early 2000s there were some "blue" 5.7L engines that the factory would send us special thermostats with some holes...

    2012 VP 300 C-A Exhaust manifolds getting too hot - DTC 441 & 442

Not sure if the kit will have a cap to match, my tester is so old it's from back when steel caps came in two sizes. I have made a few caps over the years by gutting a new cap and screwing in an adapter. But any pressure tester will work, for a number of years I used my gearcase pressure tester...

    2012 VP 300 C-A Exhaust manifolds getting too hot - DTC 441 & 442

Not sure where you get this info. If you go to the link I posted earlier and enter your serial number. This is what you should see. Here you can search for operator manuals and other product related information for your Volvo Penta product. You can download a free digital version or purchase...

    2012 VP 300 C-A Exhaust manifolds getting too hot - DTC 441 & 442

“The DTC was pretty much the same“ Do you mean like only one number off? What did the four exhaust temp senders read?

Alpha 1 gen 2 shift cable adjustment

That is only on Commander 3000 Controls, didn't you say you installed a MPC 4000? For ALL other controls, if shift assist assembly attaching points do not align, push in or pull out on end of shift assist assembly to install. Do not attempt to readjust shift cable. But remember to use some...

Alpha 1 gen 2 shift cable adjustment

NOTE:Some models may be equipped with a shift assist assembly. The only difference with these models is that the remote control shift cable attaching hardware is slightly longer. Shift cable adjustment is the same as all other versions. For Commander 3000 Controls, if shift assist assembly...

Alpha 1 gen 2 shift cable adjustment

This is for Cobra drives. Even though they use a clutch dog system they have enough difference that this doesn’t apply. You don’t provide a serial number, so I can only speak generally. You ask about the 4 turns on the control cable. Yes this is required to move the clutch towards neutral...

Running boat on land with no prop?

I’m guessing they will lift water that high at least once, but I sure wouldn’t try it to many times. This post is about a high pressure/low volume style pump vs the Gen2 low pressure/high volume. And once again I’m guessing here. If you look at what style pumps are used when they are engine...

Running boat on land with no prop?

What concerns/worries me is that some of these people have posted good info in other threads. They have some high post counts so if someone was to come across this thread, they might actually believe this misinformation.

Running boat on land with no prop?

Yes, yes, yes. These are the best muffs you can buy For your MerCruiiser. The only place they don’t work, is when running wide open on a dyno. For that you need to feed water in both sides.

Running boat on land with no prop?

Yes, MerCruiser recommends that you remove the prop anytime the out drive is run out of the water. But please don’t run a new/rebuilt engine for very long without a load. That will glaze the cylinder walls.

Running boat on land with no prop?

Could you explain how the rules and physics apply to your statement --- "Water should be well above the impeller , like 6" or 8" ---- I'm not sure if the folks at Johnson pumps know about this. Here's a cut and paste from their marine pumps catalog. The primary advantage of a flexible impeller...

Running boat on land with no prop?

So with that Cobra I mentioned, you only need the swim platform under water when it's first started? I've worked on a lot of stuff, but I gotta ask. What has 12,000 HP that drives a rubber vane water pump?
