Floor rebuild on a Misty River boat

The floor can be replaced, sealed-up - others will chime-in w specifics Since it's a small-ish aluminum fishing boat , subject to weather, and tough to get materials in and out of the area, maybe just rip-out the old rotten floor and don't put any more wood in there?

    Water in my cuddy.

Have you been in there when its raining hard? I didn't know where a visible leak-from-rain existed in the cabin of our 1998 24 ft little cruiser. Rain started one night while in there, saw the leakage. Yep gotta replace/reseal/repair the hatch's clamp levers' screw guides. Until then, a small...

1986 Ski Centurion - wake has too big a hump

For comparison, below is a pic skiing behind our 1991 Mastercraft (some old guy on 2 skis, going faster would reduce 'the hump') in the photo probably only going about 22 mph. Boat speed and line-length are 2 things to mess with ( and only "cost" more skiing). How fast are you going when 'the...

    Glastron SX 175 Gas Smell

If technical definitions are being discussed in this thread, I think this thread is about vapors, not fumes. While I understand communication between people often includes common terms, on the other hand, when discussing defined items, definitions can be critical to convey a situation to...

    Old I/Os = Money Pits?

I'd say that's a fair assessment because you included the word "likely". There are many, many variables

how hard would it be to ?

oh, not what I think of as a 'ski boat', but terms vary by region and individual yes, many ideas for boats. boats are designed and built accordingly - adding structure typically adds weight, and boats are sensitive to quantity and location of weight. re-designs can be done, lots to consider

    Transom patch

All outboard powered boats under 20' long are required by federal law to have upright and level flotation. Sterndrive and inboard powered boats under 20' long are required to have basic flotation.

    Polishing or paint

I think you'll need to be sure the gel/color layer will have enough depth remaining when the oxidized thickness is removed. Typically, one area of the surface has seen more UV degradation than others.

    Winterizing

If your boat has any water and/or wastewater systems, those need winterizing too. How will she be stored this winter vs previous winters (up here where it gets pretty cold)?

    Side of floor supports

boat designers often combine these 2 objectives. I don't know what your boat's designer's objectives were on your specific area in question - if you need more structural support there (you can tell), build-in storage too, if you can

    1980 Slickcraft SS240 Question

Agreed. At that age, I'd say condition is much more important than branding names. If you see any signs of rot, etc (look at the stickies on that), react accordingly.

planning first trip to thousand islands

When I drive there from our camp in the Adirondacks for my friends' fishing trips, we go out in smallish fishing boats. I only bring a kayak to go on the water occasionally. We stay in a private rental "cottage" (obtained by them, maybe airbnb). We go near Alex Bay, Boldt Castle, etc. The...

Just thought I'd share a nice photo.

You're gonna love it! Family and snow - that's the way to go. I've always wanted to go to Miin in the winter. Yes, find a snow covered hill and something to slide on, and make a snow - anything. Best when you can see it out the window, after you get back in by the fire, with family - priceless
