    VP SX-M trim cyylinder

I have been told that one of my drive trim cylinders was "puking milky oil", must be replaced, cannot be rebuilt, and a new one is $589. The drive is on a 1998 small cruiser, and is the original drive as far as I know. Does this sound right?

    Gardening

Great thread. Nice looking salad r n j. I was thinking about this thread last evening while working in our small front garden. Unfortunately, got too dark for pics - but my question is this... What is your definition of a weed? Mine is different than the Admirals - I tend to leave decent...

    Battery question(s)

Thanks for the input on the batteries. I thought the Interstate was a "typical" cranking battery, but it is labeled "Deep Cycle Marine/RV SRM-24, 550 CCA, 690 MCA, reserve capacity140 (it purchased in last 2 or 3 years). I think I should keep that one, and buy 1 new one. Any recommendations...

    What Winter Looks Like Outside

Yep, we haven't had nearly enough snow this winter, it was 15 the other night, and we got to catch up on missed shoveling. We got about a foot out of this one - but too little too late

    Battery question(s)

In my 1998 Wellcraft 240SE. It's got a 5.7, pretty minor electronics, no genny, on-board charger, shore-power. There are 2 batteries. One fairly new Interstate cranking flooded-cell, one older "marine multi-purpose". I will be replacing the older battery and keeping the Interstate. Should I...

For those in the North East...

She'll be slipped again on the upper Niagara near Buffalo this season. The last couple it's been delayed due to work being done on 'er after getting out of storage. This season I hope to be back to "normal" and in by late March/early April. Weather is usually not the biggest factor

    Davey Jones' locker

So, what's in there? I know that I added one thing last evening. Makes me curious what items the rest of us have added to it, and what are the tales that go along with each sacrifice. Mine is below, I hope to see some others... Cell phone. After a nice sunset cruise with the admiral, and...

First oil change on new long block - when?

The Admiral and I spent the weekend around the Buffalo waterfront a few weeks ago. Amazing how it's developed just in the last few years, and tons of events and people down here - great to see dwco - thanks for the input. That's what I thought, and it's comforting to hear it from others -...

First oil change on new long block - when?

Thanks again Bondo. And (hoping) not to beat a dead horse, but, I guess I'm looking for input from those with more experience I'm not sure if this is considered an overhaul. It was a long block from a good local machine shop. It's now at about 40 hours, with no clear opportunity to change...

    Stern light troubleshooting?

I tried a search, but was unsuccessful. I'm sure this has been asked/answered, but I can't find it. The socket/pole-mounted stern light on my 1998 Wellcraft 240 SE only works intermittently. Currently not working. I put a know-working stern light from another boat into the Wellcraft's...

First oil change on new long block - when?

As I noted previously in my oil leaking topic, after trying 2 of those (Dorman?) covers, engine pulled early this season, put on metal cover, engine back in, been boating since - phew! Now, my question is on break-in, and first oil change. It was suggested at 25 hours. I've got 34 hours on 'er...

2000 Wellcraft 2400 Martinique Center Dash

I have a 1998 Wellcraft 240 SE, which I think is very similar to your boat. If you don't mind, I'll tag along and see what comes of your project, as I might lift some ideas. Any before, during, after pictures would be appreciated - any pictures of your boat might help me with mine

    Need to refill compass

Thanks for all the input. I'm on the Upper Niagara River/Lake Erie, so I'd like to have a functional compass. I will call Ritchie before trying to re-seal, re-fill it. But, just in case, h ere's a close-up pic showing the green plastic piece that holds the black diaphragm (underneath it)...

    Need to refill compass

My 2-3 year-old Ritchie compass has lost all its liquid. It looks like the green plastic piece with the black diaphragm came unglued from the green plastic piece in the compass (sorry, photo not great). Should I just glue the green plastic piece with the diaphragm back onto the green plastic...
