    Which bilge pump?

When my engine comes out (again), I'd like to replace the bilge pump. Existing one is fine, but I have no idea how old it is, and I know it sat in some oil (see my thread on leaking long block if interested - that's why the engine is coming out again - to seal 'er up). Suggestions on what bilge...

    Tarp frame suggestions?

Thanks for the input. Yes roscoe, we do get some snow from time to time. How did you get the pic of my house? This 2000 Starcraft glasser has been a great family boat and has been well cared for and stored inside since new, but it may be destined for sale in the spring, and we just needed a...

    Tarp frame suggestions?

I have searched, but cannot find, suggestions for the design of a frame for a tarp to cover a 17 ft bowrider on a trailer for a Buffalo, NY winter. The boat has its regular canvas cover, just need something to keep more of the elements out, snow load off. I've seen mostly PVC, but would like...

    Which ski boat?

Our old-ish 16 ft glass Starcraft up at the lake has fallen out of favor with the Admiral and kids. Looking for a ski boat in the 10k range which looks to put us in an early 90's closed bow. All other things being relatively comparable is an open bow ski boat going to be about 5k more? Thanks.

    New long block leaking oil

Recently got a 5.7 long block (info below), it ran great on the stand, and in the boat when installed - life was good. But no - getting (nice clean) oil leak into the bilge of 1998 Wellcraft 240 SE. Have been told it's leaking from the crankshaft seal, and could possibly repair this leak with...

    Exhaust manifold end cap

I have a 5.7 L with VP manifolds/risers and need a replacement manifold rubber end cap. I'm not sure if it's 1" or 1.25". What size and/or part number? Where can I get it the fastest? Is it something a local brick and mortar might have, or should I figure on getting it on line? Thank you. I...

    VP SX-M zerk

VP SX-M on a 1998 Wellcraft The zerk on the starboard side of the housing is gone - it may have come off when this area was being cleaned. Is it a standard zerk fitting available anywhere, or do I need to order it from some place specifically?

    Winterize outdrive?

The winterizing threads are just so much fun - I had to add one. I pulled my boat last week (so sad) with the intention of having the engine pulled, so I did not check/replace outdrive oil as I usually do. Turns out the engine will not be pulled til spring. The outdrive was serviced before it...

    How to buy from iboats

I need OEM VP riser gaskets and some other aftermarket supplies and would like to get them from iboats. After looking up the riser gaskets, I end up at the VP store every time I try to find anything else to buy (example, engine oil). Can I buy the VP OEM gasket and other aftermarket products...

    Frankenmotor?

Re: Frankenmotor? Here's what they look like. I think they're Volvo risers. How do they look? Yep, plan to scrape, brush, prime, paint outside surfaces (not gasket surfaces). I'm guessing (hoping) they're not shot

    Gelcoat repair question

There is a small, approx 1/4 inch by 1/2 inch chip out of the hull gelcoat near the bow (see pics). I'm not concerned about making it real pretty. Seeking recommendations on simple, inexpensive repair methods/materials. If nothing is done to it before splashing this season, is there potential...

    Need foam pad for waxing?

I have always applied and removed wax, etc. by hand. Looking to have a machine do some of the work - especially with more boat and cars these days. The photo shows the 7 in. Variable Speed Polisher/Sander (HF), foam bonnet, and microfiber bonnet I got. Do I need a foam pad under the bonnets?

    U-joint replacement

The u-joints on 1998 Wellcraft with VP SX-M are reportedly "shot (1 almost seized)". Would the replacement be #3860842 that is the u-joint yolk assembly? I've seen the for about $450, to an amaz*n price of $281. Can anyone verify part number and know if the amaz*n one would be cheap crap?

    Frankenmotor?

This will be my third season with 1998 Wellcraft 240 SE. I think it has a 5.7 GL, but a marine mechanic who works on both Merc and Volvos says it's a Merc block with VP accessories. He doesn't seem to think it makes any difference. Can you tell from the picture if it's a mix? Does it look...

What do you pull your boat with?

Re: What do you pull your boat with? My son's 1990 Dodge Cummins Turbo Diesel 2500. Pulls the 1998 Wellcraft 240 SE with ease. Actually makes the truck ride a bit better. That was the day we pulled 'er out last November in a bit of a gale with some sleet to make it fun.
