    WRONG I checked the battery volts and age . 8 winters old and 12.4 volts when cooled down for 8 hours. Put in a new battery that was load tested and dated 4/ 25. All works normally. Old people really do not keep track of parts aging.

    Lower gear oil drain plug seal for Johnson outboard

    DO not use any impact. The washers can be squashed & leak. Those seals should last at least 20 years. Mine are much older.

    You need a boat handling course. To prevent taking waves to to anything except the front of the boat. You were very lucky with that side wave.

    I ran the motor at about 3/4 speed for a continuous 20 to 30 minutes into wind and waves. That has caused the battery charging coil wire windings to over heat and stop increasing voltage at 13. 4 vdc... Oh well back to the dealer to remove the flywheel and replace the overheated coil. I...

    Look all around the engine surfaces. You may find what is needed. Is this a 4 barrel carburetor ? You are running on the primaries ?

    Some VHF cell towers are too far away ? Been there. Also if you are using a short antenna with the VHF unit. Several things can cause low volume.

    Did you ever remove the gas cap ? To remove the pressure ? If you screw the cap back on tightly ? It may build up pressure again. And again. Leave the cap loose. Otherwise..... When you remove the carburetor. The tight cap will cause gas to pour out of the disconnected fuel line end.
