First startup for the season and then died

The signature wont show on a mobile device. Check the fuel filter for contaminates, measure fuel pressure, and verify you have spark. The crab style dist caps used on MPIs are known trouble spots, wonder if you are getting arcing inside hence the pop.

    Need better hole shot

My experience is much the same skiing was run what you brung back in the day. Most of our skiing was done behind our neighbors 1969 Starcraft (about 18 ft/ 110 hp merc) and later our 17 ft Sea Ray / 3.0. Both were underpowered to say the least. As mentioned earlier I got decent results on the...

    Replacing clutch on my mini...

yes Looks good and fun to drive but mechanically they are POS. For us it was an inexpensive used car that my wife loves. At 100 k when I look at the maint that has been done by me or PO it’s ridiculous compared to my last couple other cars 07 camry, 95 volvo 940 , 06 Highlander Hybrid. Done more...

    Assembling a 4.3 MerCruiser v6 - Parts check needed

You shouldn't have to disassemble anything - that is the whole point of getting a long or short block. If it is so dirty you need to tear down something is really wrong here. You take it apart I would suspect you void the warranty...if you heard something rattling someone crating it should have too

Honda BF75 "Making Oil" – Need Help with Thermostat in Cold Climate

Agreed- sounds like he needs to verify the stat is opening should stay near the stat temp, 120 is too cold in my opinion. As others have suggested making sure you get some higher speed runs it to burn off condensation is a common issue. Does the oil get milky ? IS the level rising

    Easiest Conversion

this page has links to install drawings of many merc products- any of the 4.3 will have the motor mount locations. The as long as existing stringers are wide enough glassing in mount blocks is no big deal. If they are too close widening them may push you towards the pod.

    Assembling a 4.3 MerCruiser v6 - Parts check needed

Cast is fine and what is standard in GM marine engines for many years. I believe they were hypereutctic but not 100% sure. Yes there are better pistons out there but bottom line keep detonation at bay and they will be fine.

Doing a Full Removal 1986 Mercruiser 3.0L 140 hp Engine Question

i think when I looked at building a gantry when I did mine I think I needed the lifting point to be around 10 ft maybe higher. So 2ft is probably too low. remember the legs have to go under the boat/engine. Depends on how high the gunnels are when you are on the trailer. Have seen folks...

    Assembling a 4.3 MerCruiser v6 - Parts check needed

Webber & Edelbrock are carbon copies. only diff you may see Merc used a 3 stage step up rod on some of them. Eddy parts will fit. IF you search the threads here you will find some threads where people did NOT find that the eddy jet kit for 4.3s worked well with Vortec heads. I'll see if I can...
