Mercury 6.2 ECT DTS Axius Voltage Issue

I think the spec on my old Jeep was 30-50 milliamps after all the modules power off. Many draws happen because a module is not powering off as it should.

Mercury 6.2 ECT DTS Axius Voltage Issue

Could that be a sign of a parasitic draw? I had to track one down on my old 98 Jeep. Turned out to be a rusty relay in the trailer tow harness.. I had a battery going flat after only about a week or 2 of not driving it and when I looked up my meter to this special Lisle harness made for checking...

Manifolds (Trying to figure out what I am looking at)

I have heard about that crystallization issue, and posted up pix of my old heads, and as far as I am concerned it doesn't happen in my salt water at least for cast iron. It's not salt, salt dissolves in water, it is calcium as far as I know. So just for that reason I would not fear using a 160...

I agree with the rest, fix it right now and be proud, or else lol. And I HATE fiberglass work

Manifolds (Trying to figure out what I am looking at)

Well I have never owned a Mercruiser so I can't say why it would be that you'd have overheating with a cold manifold set up, unless Merc's thermostat housing was different flow wise from OMC/Volvo's. My engine originally had the V6 batwings, ran 3 sets of those, at the last replacement I had to...

460 King Cobra Shifter detent upgrade

Only way to know is to compare part numbers...as in were the original part numbers the same for the regular Cobra vs the Baby King used on the 460s? And are the numbers for the updated ones the same? I have heard that the regular dog clutch Cobra lower unit was very similar to the Evinrude and...

    My 84 4winns horizon 195 project.

If you have the warm manifold set up I'd think you can go with either, if the cold manifolds I'd use a 160. My OMC/Volvo exhaust is essentially the same the cold manifold set up and when I tried a 140 stat I had condensation in the exhaust. And also the engine took forever to warm up, vs the 160...

    New to Volvo family

The mechanic's stethoscope is a great tool, I have found noisy water pumps, noisy idler pulleys, and noisy alternators with mine. And one more "problem" that really had me guessing.... so about 7 years ago, I did a top end overhaul on my old '88 4.3. Replaced the cyl heads because of overheat...

    Starter for V8-300-C-A

I could be wrong but it almost looks like you can use the spacer or use the more typical nut (pn#5) that goes on the stud. Maybe some of the newer engines have a different wiring harness that requires extra clearance?

If you have the kind with the grease fitting on the side of the transom mount you can even do it with the engine running on the water hose. Or, when the drive is off, turn the gimble by hand while greasing it. That way you can feel if it’s still smooth….

    Overheated Weirdness

My past history with the old OMC Batwings showed that there was enough corrosion to start clogging the relatively small outlets after 5-6 seasons. Even then I never had hot running problems or overheated spark plugs. The exhaust I have on it now (later OMC/Volvo 2 piece) has larger cooling...

    Trailer axle

Check out Champion Trailers out of Slidell Louisiana They show you exactly how to measure your axle on their site. They have made 2 axles to my specs for me over the years and both were excellent. First was a 2x2 galvanized 3500 lb straight axle Second was a 2x3 galvanized drop axle with a...

    Starter for V8-300-C-A

I have one, it's an excellent tool. On my boat I can get in there with a long (18") 3/8"s drive ratchet, with that I have enough leverage to get the bolts loose. I just remove the rear seat on that side, the wood dividers and slide the battery back. Lay an old seat cushion on the deck and have...
