Force 85 HP tilt/trim model no.

Never used a trailer lock on mine. But it does have a built in tilt-lock on the port side stern bracket.....according to this parts diagram for your engine it should have one also. Just raise the engine all the way up and the lock engages and holds it up. Not to be used for trailering...

Force 85 HP tilt/trim model no.

Mine had this style held in by snap rings.....harder to get out. Never did get the check valves apart.....totally destroyed them. Lol. Ended up buying a rebuilt VB from Franz Marine.

Those seals are inside the check valves.....shown here with the hex hole....one on each side. Follow those 2 stickies for info. Send PM if you want some seals.

Force 85 HP tilt/trim model no.

If you decide to try the repair, I have some of those tiny red seals that I will probably never use......you only need 2.

Force 85 HP tilt/trim model no.

"New from ebay" probably means a cheap China clone.....could be bad right out of the box. The leakdown is probably caused by the check valves in the VB.....might try the repair described in the sticky at the top of this forum. A repaired original VB would be a lot better than any "new" one you...

    just goes to show ya..

Since it was a rental.....is it possible they had it limited somehow for full throttle power....to keep idiots from tearing things up?

Whenever jerry does something, you could say it was "jerry-rigged"....:ROFLMAO:

What to do with old 2 stroke mix

I wouldn't put old phase separated fuel into any engine I cared about....diluted or not. Might be suitable for killing weeds in cracks......

    Force 5hp (1990) no telltale?

I was way off......Crowley wanted $108.....saw several on ebay for around $74....these impellers must be made out of gold. Lol.

    Force 5hp (1990) no telltale?

Forty bucks wouldn't even buy an OEM impeller and a spark plug.....heck of a deal....(y)

1996 merc force 75 Bolt head found.

Also.....that port is tapered so it is smaller near the bottom....if you could grab that bolt head and raise it up higher, then turn it sideways, might be able to just walk it out of there....worth a try if you haven't already....

1996 merc force 75 Bolt head found.

That's the idle exhaust port.....the broken bolt head could have fallen down in there when somebody had the PH off for some reason.....didn't see it when they reassembled. Won't hurt anything where it is now....probably been like that for a while. Not worth pulling the PH if there are no...

1990 Force 120HP #2 Cyl zero compression and upon opening piston shows damage

If you can't get the tube out, not a huge deal, main thing was replacing the seal.

1990 Force 120HP #2 Cyl zero compression and upon opening piston shows damage

Mine came out pretty easy.....might need to turn it some while pulling....might be seated into the pump kinda tight.

1990 Force 120HP #2 Cyl zero compression and upon opening piston shows damage

It looks right in your first pic.....there is a metal collar that is installed first with the cupped side facing up, then the rubber seal is seated down into the collar. When the shaft is pushed into the hole it seals out water. Some say it is not really necessary and will run fine without it...

1990 Force 120HP #2 Cyl zero compression and upon opening piston shows damage

That's where it goes.....if you take that bracket off you can slide the water tube out, put the grommet in that hole, then slide the tube back down through it...might have to put some lube on it if it is tight. Keep it straight when putting it back in and will go right back into the pump.
