    Motor stalls in neutral

Jerry, I'm getting conflicting part numbers. Marine Engine dot com calls for 174-8778K 1 a 9 amp stator CDI calls for 174-9710K 1 a 16 amp part. Which is correct? Serial number is: 0E097208 Thanks, Steve

    Motor stalls in neutral

OK after replacing the fuel pump, filter, switch box, and regulator / rectifier the stator is bad. Test open to ground on the low and high speed coils. I'll replace it next week. What makes them go bad? It's only 3 or 4 years old. (CDI).

    Tach trouble shooting

Voltage comes from the stator. Boat will run without RR but will eventually burn something out. Only way to know for sure is to measure the output with a DVA meter or oscilloscope.

    89 force 50 lift ring

Actually it was a harmonic balance puller but it worked perfectly. The three bolts fit. I used a torque wrench but a breaker bar would work.

    Motor stalls in neutral

Sounds like I need to adjust the shift linkage at the motor. The shift cable was replaced last year at the shop. It probably stretched or came loose. I've got a shop manual it has instructions.

    Motor stalls in neutral

I've replaced the fuel pump. The primer bulb gets hard. It should start when in neutral.

My remote control is a quicksilver 88688A25. I see there is a micro switch inside. I guess it can be adjusted.

    Motor stalls in neutral

I've got throttle cable problems. Can't start and it cuts off in neutral but starts and runs when I push the black button and throttle up. I had the shift cable replaced last year. I'll try to adjust it I may have to replace it.

    Motor stalls in neutral

I replaced the regulator / rectifier. Now I have spark and tach but it will only idle when throttled up. Very hard to start also. I suspect the fuel pump.
