Jerry, I'm getting conflicting part numbers.
Marine Engine dot com calls for 174-8778K 1 a 9 amp stator
CDI calls for 174-9710K 1 a 16 amp part.
Which is correct?
Serial number is: 0E097208
Thanks,
Steve
OK after replacing the fuel pump, filter, switch box, and regulator / rectifier the stator is bad. Test open to ground on the low and high speed coils. I'll replace it next week. What makes them go bad? It's only 3 or 4 years old. (CDI).
Voltage comes from the stator. Boat will run without RR but will eventually burn something out. Only way to know for sure is to measure the output with a DVA meter or oscilloscope.
Sounds like I need to adjust the shift linkage at the motor. The shift cable was replaced last year at the shop. It probably stretched or came loose. I've got a shop manual it has instructions.
I've got throttle cable problems. Can't start and it cuts off in neutral but starts and runs when I push the black button and throttle up. I had the shift cable replaced last year. I'll try to adjust it I may have to replace it.
I replaced the regulator / rectifier. Now I have spark and tach but it will only idle when throttled up. Very hard to start also. I suspect the fuel pump.
