2000 Mercury (Tracker) 125 2+2 motor making gas slicks in idle

There's supposed to be a recirculation system on all outboards made after the 70's Some might not work as good as they should. There are tiny hoses that can get clogged and the unburned fuel finds it's way out. Start it and look at the front of the carb and see if any fuel is coming out the...

Engine shutting off and bulb without pressure.

The squeezie: it has one job, it pulls fuel from the tank and feeds it to the pump and carbs. Once that's done it's job is done and once the motor starts the pressure goes away, Normal!! The valve in the squeezie is a one way valve, once pumped up it should let the pump draw through the valve.

1989 Force 35hp fuel pump issue

If possible post a pic with your request. This fuel pump should fit motors from 1980 to 1992 The smaller motors have a different pump style, so post a pic if possible and have a ruler next to the pump. I might have an old one??

    Force 70HP 1991 2 stroke Wiring Diagram

They standardized the color code sometime in the late 70's or early 80's I found this by looking on Google and using the term "color code for marine wiring" This should get you close.

    VP 280 Pins and Helmet

FYI there are two holes in the knuckle that have 1/4- 20 threads in them. Get 2 bolts (1/4-20x 2-3" Turn them in evenly and the knuckle lifts out as you turn them in.

    Is there any hope???

The newer GM blocks will be harder to adapt your older parts. Before you spend?? do a real thorough inspection, heads, risers, manifolds etc. Looks like you have the small camera for looking into the tiny spaces. The Cobra was outdated the day they introduced it. :( The good thing is there are a...

Tools required for lower unit reseal

The only grease used inside the lower unit would be "Assembly Grease" It's used to hold the parts together until it's all back together. That grease melts and dissolves in the oil.

    Fuel pump 1988 force 125hp

Nordin, looks like the diaphragm has a shiny spot and maybe good? Jose. If there's no hole in the diaphragm??? it's good. Spitting from the carb: First do a compression test, then do as Nordin suggested, remove the carbs and inspect the reeds. Does it backfire? Where are the air screws on the...

    Tach output from the motor

1986 200 Mercury The wiring in the boat was a big ol pile of spaghetti!! I finally got all the wires back to where they were supposed to go( I think :) ) How do you check the motor to see if the signal to the tach is working? I turn the key and the digital readout (bottom face of the tach)comes...

    Tilt trim

With some research I've found the style you have. Looks like it's from a 1996 Most reservoir styles will fit your pump base as long as the wiring works. Try outboard salvage yards, don't buy from anyone near salt water unless it's the only thing there is.

    Tilt trim

It's not an aftermarket it's a pump/motor from Mercury. The part# is what you need, good luck. PISTON ASSEMBLY, Trim FA449015

New to me Force 120 ('92 I believe) and of course I have trim/tilt issues.

Yup 92 The motors compression is right on. They designed it with the top and bottom cyl. to be lower than the 2 center holes. The T@T you could have one of 4 different systems??? Post a pic of the unit you have. That pic can help a LOT!! The link below is the equipment that could have come with...

    92 force 40hp wont start

You using the primer? and fast idle? Is the primer working right? key on, have someone push in the key as you pull the hose(from primer to float bowl) off the primer and see if fuel squirts out. Put a rag under the area to catch the fuel.

    Tilt trim

Post a pic of the unit. The aftermarket stuff is usually made in China and the quality just isn't there. Pics of the unit and the trim rod will help. There should be no leaks anywhere.

1993 mercury force 90 hp not starting

One backfire even a tiny one can blow the port cover gaskets and then the backfire can get worse and then it runs crappy until the gasket or gaskets are replaced. Where are the idle/air screws on the carbs set?? Should be about 1 1/8th turn out from lightly seated. Some won't operate at that...
