What performance can be expected from this prop change?

Lower unit destruction tests have POSITIVELY proved that a hard hit with either metal DESTROYS the lower units. Tests were done WAY BACK in time by Kiekaufer / Mercury company. On a concrete wall below the surface. At normal cruising speeds.

Need with what Battery is needed

Post #20 is all I do with the 1986 30 hp motor. I just did a FULL 4 hour recharge at 10 amps 2 days ago. After 6 ? years of winter storages in upstate N Y. No trickle charge. Just read 12.5 volts on rested battery. It was at 12 .3 right out of winter storage. A careful 10 amp charge rate...

Excessive "play" in Sea Star hydraulic steering

Company says your operation is NORMAL !!! Unit is GARBAGE !! I have no idea what to suggest. Good luck with that dog. Edit..... I would use a different power steering setup. Before someone needs to do a sudden evasive turn.

Considering buying this1989 15hp. New to outboards and wondering if anyone could let me know if it sounds like it's running well?

Last few inches are slower ? Should just be a little too LONG of a recoil start cord.

    Beeps when battery turned on

Sounds like a tired battery that charged up. What ran the battery down ? Something left on ? Like a Bilge Pump and Float switch ? Some are very quiet. If covered by a engine or floor boards. Radio with volume way down. I have done those and a lot more. Fish Finder & Bow lights. Several times.

    Priming rebuilt carb

When you add the Primer bulb ? Do not remove it. That way you will always have a spare way to keep the engine running. If the pump dies in the middle of nowhere at Midnight.

Buy a used block will parts swap?????

Hope is not going to make a successful swap. Accurate examination by a experienced mechanic on both engines is needed at this time. Nothing less will do.

Johnson 90 Oops it did it again

Are you sure your motor used up 3 gallons going to the boat launch ? The Choke valve would need to be almost closed for that usage to happen. Check all of your Choke linkage and Thermostatic Coil for correct action when cold and hot.

    6hp 1971 Evinrude, worth getting?

At that age ? Use it until it fails. We have brand new motors waiting for brand new parts. Mix the correct oil and oil ratio. Carry a NEW correctly gapped sparkplug and sparkplug wrench. Enjoy reliability. As you tow a new boat & motor to shore. It happens.

Johnson 90 Oops it did it again

Anybody else have a sinking float ? It would take 15 to 30 minutes to fully kill the motor. Some are really odd balls. Both Varnished cork floats. And the molded foam floats. Fun days. Using the oars for over 1 hour. :)(y) Reminds me to check the oars & refinish them.

Where do you get your parts?

Used motors that need GOOD new or good used parts ? Lots of luck and web searches.
