2005 yamaha 250 hpdi Stator or Rectifier

The more I think about it, if the stator is not outputting rated voltage then don't rush to replace the part. Don't throw parts at the problem. Trouble shoot. Maybe start unwinding the stator coils to find the discrepancy. Then just splice in a new section of wire.

Trim Function for Yamaha 90 Four Stroke

Yep. A parts replacer. Replacing parts. Individual piece parts if the customer wants. Or component parts if the customer wants. Piece parts can be cheaper but then the labor will be higher. Higher labor can result in a total repair cost greater than just replacing the component part. A...

Trim Function for Yamaha 90 Four Stroke

Not mad at all. Just perplexed. You must be looking at the wrong wiring diagram. Not really wrong. Just wrong. No shame in that. Any shame comes about from failing to accept the truth.

2005 yamaha 250 hpdi Stator or Rectifier

At a fast idle the rectifier/regulator should be outputting ~ 14.5 volts. Presumption being a fully charged good condition battery. How old is the battery? What size? Flooded lead acid type or AGM lead acid type? First thing I would do is to inspect all of the connectors from the stator to the...

2005 yamaha 250 hpdi Stator or Rectifier

That is what I thought until I started reading the bass boat forums. Many, many, many use just one battery to start the motor and to run their electrics. With long use of those electrics and short use of the motor. One reason they are in love with lithium batteries. It can do for them what a...

Trim Function for Yamaha 90 Four Stroke

I am not trying to tell anyone to do anything. I was only trying to help the OP determine where the core problem resided. Trying to separate the trim tilt pump motor from the trim tilt relay from the trim tilt switches from possibly a power supply issue. Where he goes from there is up to him...

I am failing to see the connection between verifying that a part cannot perform its function and replacing said part, with "throwing parts at a problem".

Trim Function for Yamaha 90 Four Stroke

Generally it is easiest and fastest to remove the complete assembly from the motor. Then take it to a bench to remove the pump motor. Either replace the motor with a new one (OEM or aftermarket) or open the pump motor up to see what may be the problem. Could be the brushes, the over...

Trim Function for Yamaha 90 Four Stroke

OP seemed to be trying to differentiate between the relay being faulty or the pump motor being faulty. The test above confirms that the pump motor is faulty or not. It does not indicate where a fault is within the pump motor. That is the subject of further trouble shooting. Someone that is not...

Trim Function for Yamaha 90 Four Stroke

If you have disconnected the PTT pump motor power feed wires at the relay, and applied battery power to the leads, and the pump motor does not run, that is a pretty darn good indication that it is the pump motor that is at fault.

There is no part number. There is only a model identity. And a production date. Month/year. And each model has an identification code. Part of which as a serial number. The parts that comprise the model do have part numbers.

    Aggravating gasket

Some gaskets are known to swell up in the presence of gasoline. Which can make reassembly difficult if someone reuses the gasket. The gasket is simply too large or too distorted to fit properly. The gasket on a Racor filter assembly comes to mind. This may be intentional insofar as the swollen...
