    One can read almost anything at all on the innerweb. Have you checked the alarm? It is completely separate from the tachometer indication. Some motors don't even have a tachometer and the alarm works just fine. Do you not care how the system works?

    Did this just start happening to you? Have you had the motor and the tachometer for a while and did it used to be OK before? There is no reset for the over temperature icon. The wire for the over temperature icon is being grounded for some reason.

    A Yamaha multifunction tachometer is a useful tool to tell you the status of the oil injection system. Low oil in the remote tank or low oil in the main tank. Alarm will sound with low oil in the main tank. Motor will also go into RPM reduction mode.

    The best that you can do is to prop the motor so that with the boat loaded and the throttle wide open it will run at or near 6000 RPM. Maybe play with the engine mounting height and the trim angle.
