    I hope that your fire suppression system is in good order. If that carburetor should ever “flood over” you will have a fire. The carburetor is not Coast Guard approved. And as others have stated you need the correct one as Lou pointed out.

    Shifting system

    It appears the shift interrupter is not engaging. Are the wires still connected? With the engine running try pushing on the lever where the roller sits in the “V” notch.

    In regards to the tank also be sure to remove the suction tube internal filter. It is a conical shaped fine mesh filter. There is a very good chance that it can also cause starvation problems. You really need to have the carburetor looked at also.

    HELP I can't get my motor realigned

    Remove the top nuts on the mounts, with the engine hoist connected to the very front of the engine raise it then back the lower nuts down. Now raise and lower the engine to get the alignment bar into the sweet spot. Slapping the bar around is also a good way to get it in place.

    The 454 BBC that was in my 21‘ Taylor SC jet boat had a 750 Marine Edelbrock with the “A” cut stock impeller would hit 5k @60 with no problem from a standstill with no bogging. It was a bone stock 330 hp Indmar conversion.

    Since the shift slider travels to the rear for reverse in the housing sometimes salt residue or corrosion will build up inside the cavity. After you remove the drive be sure that the cavity is clean.

    Overheating at idle

    Look inside the thermostat housing, there is a metered orifice which is the “by pass” when the thermostat is closed. If it is corroded shut the engine will overheat.
