    The water from the tell tale does not circulate through the engine block.----A 48 SPECIAL would not have left the factory with VRO automatic oil injection.------I would look at the water pump impeller.----Needs a new one about every 5 years.-----Or perhaps a wire has shorted to ground.

    Flywheel magneto system can produce spark that can jump up to 1/2"----You need to test the health of the system.----Wires going to the fuel pump are for the " no oil " warning system !-----Flywheel key checked ?

    Find the tan wire near top of cylinder head.-----Slide rubber boot away to expose metal connecter.----Turn key to ---" on "----Touch connecter to a head bolt.-----Horn should sound.

    Post the actual compression values that you have now.-----Did you install a new impeller ?---Have you tested the overheat horn ?

    You have an OMC stern drive.----Well----30 ohms is way too much.-----Should be about 5/ 6 ohms I think.-----Sounds like a shaft spline is stripped.-----Fairly common.-----Time to take the drive apart.------Manuals are available.-----Your location ?

    What manual ??----Good luck with your motor.----I bought 21 of these motors at auction one time.----At 110 PSI the motor comes apart for major work !

    Well---Some will argue , but 110 PSI compression is BAD on one of those motors!---So you have a bad gauge or a motor that needs major work.----Remove cylinder head.----Just 22 bolts and easy.----Head gasket is cheap if it is bad !-----But I do not believe you will like what you see...
