60HP 1989 Johnson outboard low compression

Sounds like you have the right puller. If you use the 3 holes on the top of the flywheel you will be fine. It’s not a good idea to pull from the perimeter of the flywheel. In my opinion grade 8 is not necessary.

1991 15 HP Evinrude pull start model

The function of the knob it to lock to throttle for trolling speeds so you don’t have to hold the throttle all the time. If you don’t need it for trolling there is no need to fix it.

    1984 Evinrude 25hp mounting

Personally I would go with the same plane as your hull. You can always adjust up or down if you feel you need to. The 4” set back shouldn’t have any effect on the height. I feel like you made a great decision by doing this. Now you don’t have to wonder what’s going to happen. Best

    1984 Evinrude 25hp mounting

I once made an adjustable bracket to solve this problem. Unfortunately I sold the boat and don’t have any pics but it was made from 3/8’s aluminum angle. It raised the motor 5” and held it off the transom 4”. Worked great. At the end of the day it still cost me over $100 to make it with all...

60HP 1989 Johnson outboard low compression

It depends on what your view of minor is. Anything that has damaged the ring groves is going to be a problem in my eyes. For me if I were going this far I would go all the way and replace the piston's and not have to wonder if I did the right thing. There are rebuild kits out there that will...

50 hp OMC triple vibration at lower rpm

Just wondering if this just started or if its been going on for awhile? May want to check your tank for water as well. A tiny amount of water in the bowels will can cause a bit of a shutter. It’s a long shot but worth looking at in my eyes. And just for kicks how does your prop look? Any...

1968 Evinrude 6hp fuel pump question....

As they say! You get what you pay for. I would look for a rebuild kit for your pump. You may even find one right here on IBoats. Best

    Engine Overheated on Evinrude

If the two @90 are in the same side you may have blown the head gasket or warped the head. I would pull the head and see what you find.

1986 20hp Johnson long shaft low compression

The risk of major is high if you do it. I did it ion a motor I didn’t really care about and it’s still running today but it was pure luck in my eyes. If you truly want to save the motor than as suggested pull the head and see what you got and decide from there where you want to go. Best

1986 20hp Johnson long shaft low compression

I would try a different gauge just for kicks. If still the same further inspection would be wise.

Can I bypass the solenoid yellow wire in 79 Evinrude outboard?

You could check the wire in question for continuity to see if it is in fact broken or grounded.

    Best solvent to soak parts

There is no miracle solvent that I know of. A little wire brush on a dremel tool would work great.

I use 240,320 and finish with 400. It’s probably over kill but that the I like it. Best
