    Just for kicks mark your prop and hub take her for run and see if the marks are still aligned. You may have a spun hub that is slipping.

    Not that this is going to help your problem but just out of curiosity what type of tac are you going by? Maybe it’s not all that accurate.

    It might be worth your time to use another gauge and compare the numbers. If they are still no good pulling the head and doing an inspection will tell you a lot about what’s going on.

    What did you mean by your seeing a lot of water coming out around the pump housing? Did you have the lower off and were testing with a drill in a bucket when you saw this? Do you recall what the rest of the pump looked like when you changed the impeller? Was the wear plate and cup if it has one...

    Agreed with above. Has the water pump been serviced since you bought it. That’s always the first step to a new to you motor if it’s age is unknown.

    I once watched a guy spray the outside of the carbs down and explained to me he was doing a carb cleaning because it wasn’t running well.

    Yep that’s what a spun hub looks like. They can be repaired but it’s likely not going to save you a ton of money. Glad you finally got this resolved.

    If you were getting water out of the tell tail while on the hose it’s not likely that’s where the problem lies. The tell tail passages don’t circulate through all the water passages.     Agreed if it was missing fins they are properly jammed up somewhere. The hose pressure may have been enough to push water to the pisser.

    The assembly grease will help you keep the needle bearings in place durning assembly. Without it you may end up going insane.

    Buy the look of the staining on the paint it could be running a bit rich as well which would make this dripping heavier than normal. Just out of curiosity how much oil do you use per gallon or liter of gas?
