    find another WH-41 if your convinced tha "rebuild" did not take.. it happens with some of 'em for whatever reason.. been thru it myself with a few..........

    base 150 and XR2 150 are very much same thing.. XR2 uses different carbs, divider plate and tuner.. these will add a coupla hundred rpm to wot depending on your boat and how its set up... XR2? its more of a "marketing thing"... is it worth tha difference??? its up ta you.. with your boat...

    you need ta revisit tha carbs.. do not re-use any of tha gaskets no mater how good they look... replace tha needle and seats.. double check float heights....

    has tha 16 amp chargin stuff.. individual regulator and rectifier.. it seems like its jus enough ta keep up with tha main starting battery if ya runnin' very many electronics.. for years and on 90% of all tha mercs i've built/had i ran tha 16 amp stuff with jus a rectifier without any problems...

    a "backfire" is almost always a wire/wires (usually at a switch box) made up wrong and/or timin'.............. jmo

    tha motor looks ta be an '83.. its second gen power head but still has single cylinder TnT.. you need to find an OEM manual for it... by your own words your lost on what and how to do stuff on that motor.. there are no adjustments to those carbs.. they have an "idle circuit and an off idle...

    production stats are 143's... i always liked "controlled heat" 160 ta 170.... but i didn't string my junk out for miles n miles....

    sounds like ya got what ya got and will probably do without startin' from scratch with all new holes.. might put new std. pistons in it and call it a day......... i always liked "loose" (cast or forged) with tha mercs anyway.... jmo jan.. never had a problem with 'em either!

    do you have any information on injector health?.. as in recent flow tested and cleaning?.. o-rings, tip screens and such?.. justa a start of several things it COULD be... if you would like send me an email addy and i'll send ya an OEM manual (pdf file) for it......

    are ya referin' to jus tha block?.. if it got hot enough ta have tha oiler give up then pretty sure ya gonna have more damage than "jus tha block"..............

    don't pay any attention to tha idle timin'/rpm on tha hose as long as it does ok.. put it in tha water, under a load (in gear) and set idle rpm/speed with TIMING ONLY to whatever makes you and tha motor happy.... numbers are irrelevant..

    sounds like ya got it all figured out then............ first of all i don't need instructions on anything 2.0, 2.4, 2.5 V6 Merc.. good luck with it.
