    ??----No need to rush out and replace the control box.----Some simple trouble shooting can be done.----That is an improved control box and better than 1978 original !!-----There are adjustment on these things.---Stop and take your time.----First time owning a boat ??

    Simple testing gets you the results.----So does the solenoid click when you put 12 volts to the choke wire on the terminal strip, yes or no ?

    Just a matter of time as severe corrosion is happening.----Material will fall off around the cast iron cylinders.

    That appears in more than 1 Yamaha product.-----Got a 2005 model 90 for free from a dealer , motor was declared scrap due to water jacket corrosion.----And not from salt water either.

    Use a jumper wire directly to the choke wire on the terminal block.----Choke should click.

    When you are done you may have a better / safer / stronger boat than what you can buy new.----Lots of smiles when you launch it.

    The Johnson is a wonderful unit , smooth running and reliable motor.----I would repair that as needed myself.----Yamaha is over rated in my opinion.

    Pull the cylinder head now.----If water got onto the bearings it will soon be a scrap motor.----I say this motor needs to come apart now.
