    1997 Johnson 40 no spark

I had that Merc.....it's called a 2 plus 4. It kills fuel to two cylinders. Pouring fuel to two cylinders with no spark makes absolutely no sense.

    Checking power trim sender

Just to throw my input in.....and like what was stated, I rarely use my trim gauge. Not very accurate in terms of water conditions, typically not in my field of vision when cruising (should be looking at the water) and I trim my motor by sound and boat attitude. One thing to note and not sure...

Older 6hp Johnson - Oil Leak Between Upper and Lower Unit

Just to confirm, you were looking to buy.....I wouldnt let this issue stop me from buying it. You might want to do a compression test and look for any obvious corrosion.

    8hp powerhead difference to the 6hp (1996, BJ6DREUC)

I've heard porting is different in some models but not the 6/8. I certainly could have received bad info. So then it comes to years. Some say it changed in 92 but I have a 1991 8hp that I brought brand new and it's the newer design....so I think 1991 and a half. Again, I was told intake...

    8hp powerhead difference to the 6hp (1996, BJ6DREUC)

Only difference should be carburetor and intake. By the way, I have your motor as a 1997

Older 6hp Johnson - Oil Leak Between Upper and Lower Unit

Racer has a point but if your not mechanical or knowledgeable in how to take it apart I would just do a pressure/vacuum test and change the gearcase oil. By they way, that's the gearcase to midsection connection and you see all kinds of things dripping out of that area. Tough little motors so...

Older 6hp Johnson - Oil Leak Between Upper and Lower Unit

Anyway we can see the picture? That would help. By the way those 87 are my favorite motors. They come with the manual primer and not a choke. A better way of running in a cold start situation in my humble opinion.

Replacing starter bendix on 1990 evenrude 25 HP

Bracket is not hard. Nut/bolt in front next to the carb. Two more plus upper throttle mount. Starter wire, pull assembly forward. You could try oiling bendix but internal starter issues could be contributing.

Replacing starter bendix on 1990 evenrude 25 HP

Unbolt the bracket....the starter goes with the bracket. You also have to remove the two small screws and small brackets holding the throttle rod assembly. Somewhat obvious as you start the removal process.

    I need a new project

Not sure anyone is going to be able to answer that. Every area has different deals and different models used. Best I can say is pick up whatever makes you happy. Best of luck!

This is also a 85 (co). If this picture doesn't get what you want ask me what specific area to take a picture of.

1988 Evinrude 90 VRO alarm at startup

Definitely not normal, If I can remember right there's two alarms on your control box. One, which I think is constant, is an overheat and one that's intermittent, that's for low oil or low oil pressure. You need to determine which one it is. Definitely want to make sure you're getting oil. An...

    Need help!

Did any water come out of the gearcase when you drained the oil? It still looks like 2 stroke oil to me. Has it been run in a barrel for awhile?

    Need help!

No.....excess 2 stroke oil. Get her on the lake and clean her out.

1975 Johnson 25 HP Not Running

Running an inline fuel filter? Sounds fuel related. I'd pull that carb, clean it again and run on a portable fuel tank until you resolve the issue.
