    Dean's List gets another motor

2 AND 4 have those pistons on the left, the rest have the ones on the right We will measure the "flatness" of the block and heads. If they need attention, we will then have that done

    Dean's List gets another motor

I was bored and didn't want to do glass work, so decided to do motor work My buddy Dean has a twin engine cruiser with V-drive 454 MPI's. The Port motor has been replaced twice, get that twice. Some years ago the previous owner had the motor replaced by Merc dealer with a Reman. Motor SN...

    99 sportdeck 262 no reverse

Howdy, the model of a boat is great when you have a problem with the boat other then the motor and drive. What motor is in your Chris, and serial numbers are best?

Fuel coming out VST vent hose

Don't plug it, that could make things worse. Don't know the motor but do know what a VST is. Since this just happened it might be a spec of crud in the needle seat. Get something to tap on the side of the VST. Disconnect the fuel to motor and start it up. As its running keep tapping on...

Anchor bumper when being towed by larger boat?

Some smaller boats do have an anchor on the bow. I try to get low so the bow stays as high as possible. I tie a bowline to the bow eye. Having the low line above the gunnel just pushes the bow down. If no bow eye and unable to get the anchor out of the way, wrap a towel or something else...

    Mercruiser 3.0 No Spark issues

Agree with Scott try both Had one on 2 different boats. Both the very ridge stingray model. The foil will use some hp due to increased drag. Having a 454 was no issue. On a 3L with no extra it will make things worse

    Mercruiser 3.0 No Spark issues

I don't see drilling is needed because the transom is soft. Being able to tighten the bolts is showing that to be. With no more water being pumped and its not coming from the drive shaft, use the boat this season. Then replace the transom in the fall

Maybe my turn for new boat time

Looked at a few 310BR w/OB Looks like the 310 OB started in 2019, good part is there are a few out there, the bad is they are 34FT long. Looking real close at one in Marco Island, but hen figured its 34FT so don't really want to go that long Looking at 310 with I/O and a few with 6.2 and one...

3L rough idle, one black spark plug

Always start a motor problem with a motor serial number One black plug could be low compression. Valve not closing correctly or rings broke. Do a compression test to find out

    Temperature Gremlin

If it has a bad ground, it could be heating up and contact improves That said, most gauges use senders 180 (cold) to 33 (hot) ohms. The gauge is pegging so the gauge wire might be grounding out. If you have European gauges they work in reverse (cold low and hot is high resistance) The gauge...
