14 row boat to center console

Since that boat was also made as a side console I would think the spacing would be close to the same. My concern might be if you remove the center bench seat would that affect the structural strength of the hull. Are the bench seats foam filled to meet buoyancy requirements?

    Gamefisher 3hp gear lube?

The one I have calls for grease rather than gear oil. I think it is a 65-66 3.5 hp. Year or model number on yours may help.

Fish every where but not even a nibble

Started out a two days ago for an afternoon of fishing. Nice bright sunny Fall day, sun shining bright. Left the dock and headed for a good spot and the sun was reflecting off my fish finder when I turned it on. Got close to my spot and saw two large schools as I slowed down. Stopped and...

    How bad is it?

They were known for burning the top piston from running the cylinder lean do to fuel delivery problems. Very low or no compression probably means a hole burnt clear through in the piston.

Instrument cluster poorly illuminated; tachometer doesn't work...

Red light is what is used to help with night vision. All the gauges in my plane were illuminated with red. I still have a pair of red goggles that were issued to my uncle when he was a Navy carrier fighter pilot during WWII. The pilots would wear them during the day if they were schedule to...

    Retirement in another Country

I knew a Navy buddy who went to Costa Rica. Haven't talked to him in years but he loved it there. A lot of retired military where there back then and he was loving it.

    1984 Mercury 50 confused!

Was it stored outside when you brother had it? Flotation maybe waterlogged adding more weight. Did you brother have to replace the prop at any time? Could be that if it was it was the wrong pitch and you are over propped.

Free Boat, This thing is a badboy!

As an old retired Navy Chief Shipfitter we would just call16mm 25 pound plate. Actually it is 5/8". A 1" thick piece of steel plate weighs just a tad over 40 pounds so 1/4" plate is called 10 pound plate, 1/2" 20 pound, and so on.

What were you compression numbers? My 1990 175GT all were in the low 90's right after the rebuild when I bought it.

    Got a new pal ;)

Just stopped in to look around at the local gun shop yesterday and could not believe today's ammo prices. $95 wouldn't even cover 100 rounds of 9mm.

Found a snake skin in the boat. Now what?

The bright side is you may not have to worry about mice chewing your wiring.

    Mercury tower of power years

Misread the original post. Didn't realize saltrun was the boat maker. Agree with roscoe on the motor value. Most of the value is the sound that one of those old Towers makes running flat out.

    Mercury tower of power years

As much as I liked those old Mercs you are looking at a motor that was made in 1972-1981 if it is really an old inline 6. A possibly 50 year old saltwater motor known for deteriorating wiring is meant for someone who likes to "tinker."
