It is what you trained with until it becomes instinctive. I worked with a fellow for a couple of years who was a retired federal officer who's uniform was suit and tie. He was as slick as you know what on a hot tar road with a shoulder rig when we used to practice for fun. He was just as good...
Same here. If I would have trained for years with one I may be more comfortable but I never liked the cross draw and the muzzle aime towards my support arm. When you are used to drawing and moving your support arm up to either push off if needed or support you gun hand at the same time it is a...
What are the ramps like where you launch? Look around next time you are there and see if others are putting in boats of that size without difficulty. Agree that a 3/4 ton pickup would fill your needs preferably 4wd. That slip rental may seem pretty reasonable once you find out the price and...
If you can find the serial number look up 43113T fuel pump. That pump was used on lots of Mercs and Mariners around the age of yours. Many sites will tell you if it is the one for your motor if you have the year and/or the serial number. Will take a little computer time if there is not a...
Does the motor have a separate fuel tank and hose? If so I would suspect that the little duckbill fuel pump bladder which is in the carb has probably disintegrated by now. A common problem but new ones are available.
If you are boating in waters where flares are required they are valid for four years from date of manufacture. Basically if it is more than three boating seasons your current flares are no legal. From what I found on the internet only one company makes a USCG approved flare...
Maybe this should be in the trailer towing section but a good example of what happens without enough tongue weight.

Just looked close at th4 capacity plate again. It reads that it is a replacement for the original with owner supplied information. So I guess that we are looking for pre 1972.
I just had to replace the alternator in one of my trucks after 175 thousand miles and this was packed with the replacement. I have no idea if your engine has an ECM but in my case the brown wire feeds the PCM and activates the warning light. The gray wire excites the field coils and duty...
Not saying this is your case but alternators can be damaged if the battery is disconnected while the engine is running. I would check the battery connections, cables, battery switch and the engine ground cable.
At 4800 feet you would be putting out about 17 horsepower. That would give you a speed of around 24mph at sea level. Your speed doesn't sound that far off what would be expected. Get one of those 15 dollar induction tachs and once you get your speed/rpms you may find you could get a small...
Depending on the size of the motor two people can slide it over enough depending on the width of your transom at the splash well. There is usually enough slack wiring and fuel line nothing needs to be disconnected. Connecting up the motor first and the helm second is usually better but not...
