    Flux Marine Outboard Engines . . .

We're averaging about 5 lithium fires a week. I say let em out. Keeps us busy and forces the county to underfund us slightly less.

    Popped through the intake.

So I got it to do it today. Firstly, I went out for 4.5 hours. Spent 90% of that time between 3200 and 3600 RPM. No issue. Last leg I decided to open it up. Hammer down boat comes up to about 4600 then starts breaking up within seconds. Back off and it went away. So. I pull into a cove and do...

I didn't take stab at the msrp difference as I don't know what it would've been in 13. Most people I know say the maintenance is a wash other than brakes... seems to go a little longer but oil changes, wipers tires etc all are about the same unless you have the low rolling resistance tires which...

My gut says like $300 a year on fuel... but depending on environment that could be generous or stingy.

My girl has a 19 corolla. Nice enough without most of the tech. I do wish it had more than 3 windshield wiper speeds.

    What kind of Toyota?

    Popped through the intake.

It is a Rochester, just with one idle jet instead of two. But I also have the 4bbl and intake ready to go. Sorry for any confusion. Honestly, I've only had 1 ethanol related issue on any of my boats and it was caused by being laid up for 2 years. Splash of stabilizer at the end of the season on...

Its a merc weber off the same engine set up to the factory specification. Having had them all, for this application I'll take the weber.

I like that my car lacks the safety features preventing me from making my own road.

    I have a leak.

So I kind of can observe the leak. Looks like the transom assembly itself. Need a smaller inspection camera to fit in there.

1 jet 2bbl mercarb. I have a 4bbl weber sitting on the bench to go in... once this is figured out for good.

    Popped through the intake.

So I just ran an hour sustained 3800... no issues. So I'm more confused than when I started.

    Popped through the intake.

My machinist had to take it .060 over. There is some rust on the exhaust valve on 2 as well if you look. The dark spot on piston 2 is also interesting but may just be carbon. I really got nothing. For only 60 hours on a fresh rebuild, #2 is off for sure.

    Popped through the intake.

I hunted down my small inspection camera. While not high quality, it paints a picture of what the bores look like.

    Popped through the intake.

Leakdown results: #1 4% #3 3% #5 3% #2 20% #4 7% #6 6% And the majority of the air is present in the crank case. You can hear some through the exhaust outside as well. So I'd say cylinder 2 is questionable.

    Popped through the intake.

And it runs well. Pushes my sled of a boat to 44mph give or take and is snappy. Not reading into it!

    Popped through the intake.

So my inspection camera doesn't fit in the plug hole. What I can see with a flashlight and naked eye is tops of pistons when rolled over and nice crosshatched bores. Pistons don't appear "washed".

True. But people in Seattle dont want to be in Seattle.

    Popped through the intake.

Nothing out the holes plugs stayed dry. I did dump the fuel filter... some silt in it but nothing crazy. Looks mostly like remnant glass from the tank being in the garage... no water there either. Going to start a leakdown.
