    The fuel pump is driven by a crankcase PRESSURE pulses.------Not the same as cylinder compression !-----Posting cylinder compression numbers may offer a clue on motor condition.

    The 55 was likely a manual start motor.----That nipple is to feed fuel to a manual primer pump.

    There is 1 charge coil and it fires both plugs.----There is one sensor coil and it fires both plugs.----Sounds like there is nothing wrong under the flywheel.

    You can adjust that screw all day long!!------It retards the timing to slow down the idle.-----That does nothing to endanger the motor !

    Agreed----$100 as is.----These are nice running motors if in good condition.-----Shops do not work on them , so they are no good to modern folks.----Folks who know how to work on them have a few already.

    That screw is used to set the lowest idle speed you like or where the motor is happy.----To stop the motor the push the STOP button !!

    You might have to fix it yourself.-----Very few shops will entertain rebuilding these.----Rebuilt powerhead is an option.
