Poured foam adheres to the underside of your new deck hence creating a real nice solid deck. This really is the method of choice and compensates for all the misgivings stringers/bulkhead install have.

Looks great. Nah the gelcoat gives you a plane of filler like fairing.
The issue will be if you can get a gelcoat to match your weathered color. All good.

-Chamfer the edges back to a rough 45 deg edge more or less. Sand out the gelcoat 3-4 " off for the new glass bond.
Your application is correct. Soak wood with resin and especially the edges...

A lot depends on the products you are using. Gelcoat has a longer time for cure other materials are faster i.e. paints. 30 min is plenty fine for paints and gelcoats probably have a longer time forgiveness. It's all about the temps and humidity. Def want to use a good quality paint tape.
