    I have seen various problem with selector switches. Check connection on the switch and see if you have charging to battery. If battery is charging then your stator is good and rectifier side is working. Check grey wire to tach to see if you have 2-5 VAC at idle, if so then tach is acting up, If...

    If you flip the selector switch with engine running you risk damaging the rectifier. It needs to be a make before break style or better is a ARC style

    Check to see if trim tab is loose and if play in upper motor mounts. If motor lean back when put in gear or accelerating it will cause the shift rod to rattle against the adapter plate

ADI ignition is pretty simple,... cranking RPM generates AC voltage from stator, this is sent to switchbox where a internal rectifier converts to DC and stored in capacitor, trigger voltage off the hub magnet is sent to switchbox SCR to discharge the capacitor.     The cooling system has to be "perfect" to run a .040/.044/.064 piston or it will seize. Let me look as I have several blocks stacked in corner.

    When it's in two opposite cylinders it usually a divider plate. Look the divider over real good and gasket mounting areas.
