Volvo fuel pump cross reference required.

I got the new assembly from Amazon. Looks good, works fine. I did a 5 hrs ride yesterday and it was fine. I just find it more noisy than the Volvo part. Does anyone with that unit can confirm it is normal? Other than that it's working fine.

Volvo fuel pump cross reference required.

Hi. Volvo 5.7GiD My high pressure fuel pump is defective. It makes noise and has low pressure. I found on internet that a Carter number P61171 should fit as a replacement. I ordered one from Amazon. The one I received is almost the same except for the double oring nipple at the bottom. Does...

    Raw water pum

Is the replacement RWP brand new or used? On my 5.7Gi-D, the rubber seal behing the RWP bearing was dry and the RWP was sucking air from there. Engine was overheating even at idle on the muff and on the lake. I tested the RWP by blocking one port, and applying vacuum on the other port. It...

Navionics vs Naval Operational Training Area

I thought that all the squares were the OTA?? Do you know what are the numbers in parenthesis? Those numbers are there only in the squares.

Navionics vs Naval Operational Training Area

I'm plotting a route with Navionics from Naples FL to the Keys. The route crosses a delimited area that is defined as Naval Operational Training Area. So, that means pleasure boats cannot enter that area? Navionics doesn't take that into account? In this case, I would have to follow the coast?

    Paper maps required?

My plan is to start at Fort Pierce, doing the ICW down to Hollywood, some outing offshore if weather is good, then another trip across Lake Okeechobee to Naples, then trailer the boat to the Keys to spend a week there. (3 months total vacation). Okeechobee, some people reported to hit a rock in...

    Paper maps required?

Thanks for the links. At least, if I don't find a used book, I won't be illegal with my electronic devices.

    Paper maps required?

Yes if I find a book on EBay, at a reasonnable price, but I have 2 phones working on their own electric supply. So chances are low that they fail at the same time.

    Paper maps required?

I'm planning to go boating in Florida. I was wondering if coast guards check for paper maps onboard. I have my Garmin GPS, plus 2 phones with Navionics. So, 3 independant navigation systems. Would that be accepted in our modern days?

Volvo 5.0 gxi Stalls at idle. Hard start.

Your throttle opening shows 0.00%. But, when the ignition is ON without starting, is it 0% or another value? On mine, IGN ON = 0.39% and then when the engine fires, there is an offset added to show 0%. I have a video of when I was troubleshooting a hard start:

Engine doesn't start without throttle opening

I will update that thread to help those that may have the same problem. I finally found my problem. It was a leaking injector. Why I didn't see the problem before? One of my first test a couple of years ago, has been to remove all injectors, and test them one by one on a DIY jig that I was...

Volvo 5.0 gxi Stalls at idle. Hard start.

Maybe worth a try to remove it and shake it to see if it moves freely (not clogged). At idle, there is some combustion air coming from the PCV in addition to the throttle body. And may be the IAC is at its maximum opening and can't compensate. In the past, I bought a IAC from Amazon, and it...

Volvo 5.0 gxi Stalls at idle. Hard start.

Is your PCV valve working? Is it a new problem? Any work done on the engine before that?

    Is the buddy heater safe?

A diesel heater (forced air) will provide more heat that you need, and it will be dry heat, which makes a big difference. It can be a portable unit or a kit to permently install inside the bilge if the boat is big enough. Exhaust is routed outside, only the heat is routed inside, so a lot safer...

    Can't read MIL

alldodge, I took this information on the Rinda website for their CodeMate device. But I didn't read correctly (french brain). With only IGN ON, it is a test light, and if it remains ON during start up then there is a MIL. I can't start the engine right now because I removed the injectors for...

    Can't read MIL

2004 Volvo Penta 5.7Gi-D / MEFI4B When I connect a LED on my DLC and turn the IGN ON without starting, the LED is ON which indicates that codes are presents. I then jump A-B to get the codes, and only 12, 12, flashes continiously, whick is 'no fault'. I Know if I clear the codes the LED will...
