    Was distributer cap/rotor a OEM of aftermarket? Just went thru this on same engine in houseboat. Owner had tuned up engines 3 months ago and used aftermarket cap and rotor as didnt want to pay $120 for cap/rotor. The rotor burned thru to shaft so no spark out of cap.

    This model looper was bad about skirt wear on pistons(side thrust) and crankcase case leakage. They will idle great on muffs but not in water. One tell-tell sign is if you can keep it running with a lot of timing advance when in gear.

    Black Max 150 overheating and water pressure

    Temp gauges are inaccurate due to the sender mounting and location can cause different readings.. Put a piece of tape over it and rely on pressure reading as true indication of impeller/cooling operation. It will also run hotter if overpropped as engine is lugging
