08' Merc 90hp --Ditching The Oil pump/going mixed fuel..

Got pics? A piston in pieces could be fuel, temp or ignition problem. The looper models dont like to be be overproped and lugged or ran more than 5-700 rpm over max rating. The piston skirts has a tendency to break

New 15x17 pitch prop on Merc 165 L6

The additional diameter helps as prop blade hold more water, this helps in mid range to hold boat "up" at slower speeds

    Cylinder Compression Incongruences.-

The problem is you didn't check the machine work before reassembly... the blame falls on you not machinist. Did you give him cylinder specs? Still honing wouldnt drop compression 10psi unless ring gap is now excessive.

    Cracked mercury powerhead

JB weld would melt...just drill a small hole at end of crack to stop it from speading. Motor is over 50+years and unless you have special or nostalgia reasons just run it.

1985 Mercury 85hp (4 cyl) runs great for 20 minutes then boggs down

Floats start absorbing fuel and changes float level, this causes cylinder/s to run rich from flooding.

    Cylinder Compression Incongruences.-

If piston clearance was to tight shirt would scuff on pistons....shaving head would increase compression. Cylinder wall clearance has no effect on piston only the ring end gaps. if they honed it enough to drop compression 10psi that engine wont be living long.

    Cracked mercury powerhead

Just run it till it fails..eventually it will start ingesting water that is pulled around liner. Seen many a I6 do this.

Please help! 2007 optimax 150 problems

Pull the plugs as you can hear a cylinder clear itself and RPM increase. Could be a injector flooding or lean. I would send em off to have cleaned and flow tested(Brucato)

    Suzuki DF25A prop

It doesnt but the manufacturing process is the same on all OEM brands, and they can have the same problems.

    Cylinder Compression Incongruences.-

The only way honing would effect cylinder compression is if ring gap clearance is excessive, as compression would blow by. If this is the case the cylinders are past the MFG wear specs. To tight clearance would not increase compression as it is created on top off piston and the squish radius...

1996 Mercury 225hp 2 Stroke Carb - Loss of RPM and Top End Speed

Make sure carbs are fully opening at WOT and TPS is set correctly. The 3L is bad about burning thru bleed lines because of stopped up/restricted check valves and only use OEM bleed line. A loss of 1K RPM is usually a cylinder dropped out. Check compression especially #6, check spark above 3K rpm...

    Suzuki DF25A prop

Because factory props are inconsistent in manufacturing. You can take 4 new OEM props on same boat and get 3 different results. When I went for training at OMC in Waukegan this question was asked. Due to the wax casting process if prop line is delayed or there is a break/lunch the wax casting...
