    New Stuff on Vehicles likes/dislikes

I've worked on all kinds of parking brake mechanisms over the years . . . not sure I liked any of them. :ROFLMAO:

    Flux Marine Outboard Engines . . .

Time to close this thread up. 'nuff has been said.

    Loosing Faith in Humanity . . .

Quick Update . . . I've listed about 25 items on eBay. Half of them have sold totaling about $1K. I'm getting about 67% of the gross as a net into my account. 🤪 The other stuff has been on there for a couple of months, and I am not sure at this point if it is worth continuing to list them...

    Flux Marine Outboard Engines . . .

Probably similar conversations were happening 120 years ago when there were horseless carriages. "Where are they going to get gas for those things" . . . "who's going to fix them when they breakdown" . . . "and they so easily get stuck in the mud"

    I/O (Sterndrive) Conversion to Outboards

Yes, DIY bracket, and using re-power shop for the engines and controls (exact shop still to be determined). Plenty of re-power shops in the northeast. There are about a dozen within 25 miles of me. Where there are boats, there are re-power shops. Engine warranties would not be impacted by...

    I/O (Sterndrive) Conversion to Outboards

OK - I've done some quick reading on the Optimus joystick stuff. I think I got my head wrapped around it now . . .It looks like either Mercury or Suzuki engines brands will require Optimus in order to get joystick, Yamaha has Helm Master EX. So, I'm going to confer with the re-power shop as...

    I/O (Sterndrive) Conversion to Outboards

In the area of engines, I finally got some clarity on Joystick piloting of Mercruiser vs Mercury. Here is a summary from Google AI. . . "The Mercury outboard equivalent of the MerCruiser Axius system is Joystick Piloting for Outboards (JPO). Both technologies are part of Mercury's broader...

    I/O (Sterndrive) Conversion to Outboards

As I look at engines, particularly in the Yamaha and Suzuki product lines, I am finding the model numbers as clear as mud. . . The first part of the model numbers are pretty straight forward, the last few digits seems to be all over the place Example . . . the model F300X is 25" shaft, . ...

    I/O (Sterndrive) Conversion to Outboards

So, if the accrual was at little/no profit . . . Figuring $3k for 3 year extension and 17% needing repair during the extension period . . . 1/(0.17) x $3,000 = $17,647/repair (which seems high) I figure that there must be a fair amount of profit in the pricing

    I/O (Sterndrive) Conversion to Outboards

The pricing for extending the base warranty looks to be $1,000 - $1,200 per year, which seems high, as that figure would be an average. Not sure how much of it is clear profit, but at ‘flat’ rate, every 10th owner would have a $10K repair bill each year. 🤪

    I/O (Sterndrive) Conversion to Outboards

As for extended warranties- Yamaha seems to be about 15% lower than Merc and Zuke. It looks like the standard warranty is 3 years for M and Y, 5 years for S. I’m not a fan of warranties anyway, probably would stick with the base warranty.

    Cars you should have kept.

'Torino' wasn't a brand until 1968 . . . Was it a 67 Fairlane, or a later model year Torino? I think the Gran Torino was 1972-76. My parents had a 1961 Ford Sunliner (that would be a nice collector car now) Parents also had a 1966 Fairlane convertable . . . and a 1968 Plymouth Fury 2-door...

Robalo2440 1995 Nav light needs repaired

'Aqua Signal' and 'Perko' make many navigation lights. So you might want to Google search a bit to find a new top part (light fixture). The one you have looks like a Perko 'masthead/all-around' style.

After some review of the boat hull (from pictures), I realized that I had the hull strakes slightly off. The upper strake does not line up exactly with the chine of the hull extension. Here are a couple of pictures with the strakes shown and adjusted accordingly. . . . I should be getting...

    Solar charging batteries

I did the solar charging thing over the past few years. You will probably want a solar charge controller, one that has setting for LiFePO4. I also found that when the LiFePO4 batteries are full, they shut off charging, so the controller may have current with no place to go. So you may get a...
