    I/O (Sterndrive) Conversion to Outboards

The more I read about the design of hull steps, the less inclined I am to having the 2" step. Here is a rendering of the E.B. without a step. There is a strake right at the chine of the extension (not previously detailed) that I could run to the end of the extension. .

Bought my first boat to cut, gut and rebuild from bow to stern, including engine. Killed my back and suffered the wrath of the fiberglass demons

Think twice (or 3 times) about renting out a trailer. Bad things happen to good people. Hopefully you will get back to the boat work soon?

Links at top - shopping on iBoats?

I was on BoatingABC for quite some time as well. IMO, the technical level here on iBoats is much higher, and probably one of the highest among the popular boating sites. BABC went away one day without notice. There was just a handful of people who frequented there an I would imagine the admin...

    I/O (Sterndrive) Conversion to Outboards

As for stats & numbers . . . If I build the extendo-bracket (EB) myself, it is looking like $5-6K including the gantry for materials and supplies. I am thinking to have one made is probably $12-15K. I have estimated the weight of the bracket in foam/fiberglass at 475-500 lbs. If aluminum, I...

    I/O (Sterndrive) Conversion to Outboards

One thing that I am still thinking over (or maybe over thinking  ) is the 2" step (up) of the extended planing surface. I see a lot of hull extensions that are done with the added planing surface flush with the existing hull, rather than a step. I'm thinking the step will allow some air...

    I/O (Sterndrive) Conversion to Outboards

Yes, I was thinking of exactly that. Since there will be a 2" step up, I could have a drain hole back to the main bilge.

    I/O (Sterndrive) Conversion to Outboards

September Update . . . Boating season (for us) has come to a close, and over the past few months I have been firming up plans for the outboard conversion. My 3D modeling software has come in handy in finalizing the design. I plan on making a gantry for the heavy lifting . . . the rear seat...

Links at top - shopping on iBoats?

The new owners are in a similar line of business, but in a wholesale/distribution capacity. Whereas iBoats had been in a retail capacity. We (the Mods) are not sure of the future plans, so for now, it is steady-as-she-goes.

It has been a few years that the new owners have deactivated the store-front portion of iBoats. It may return at some point, but we do not know anything definite.

    Tahoe Q4 movement during transport

I'd be focusing on the lower set of bunks in the forward section. See if they are exactly the same in terms of their height off the cross bar and centering. You could take a picture of that area once the boat is first loaded, and then again after traveling, when the bow is off center.

    Fuel Tank incorrectly labelled?

I'd be thinking the fuel sender is not right (as in too short, if it is a tube type sender)

2004 Sea Ray 260 Sundancer sudden leak

If you can get your phone positioned near where you see water coming in, you could take some pics and video to share for further input. Sources of a leak include: Bellows (drive shaft & shift cable) (as mentioned) Transom deterioration Transom assembly deterioration Y-pipe gasket deterioration

2020 Mustang GT getting check engine light,P0300 and P2006 codes

My CEL came on . . . I stopped the car, opened the hood, checked the engine (it was there). . . closed the hood, got back in the car and kept going. :ROFLMAO: Although . . .I am wondering if a stuck intake runner control causes random cylinder misfires . . .

Boat had been stored for 19 years

The trailer is worth what you paid, so you are even at this point. Engine: I would get some PB blaster (or similar) into the cylinders (take spark plugs out) I would also remove the distributor and use a drill w/ an oil pump attachment to get some oil up into the rotating assembly. Then maybe...

Plane lands on Cape Cod beach . . .

This just happened today. It is where we do the sandbar thing on nice calm days . . . https://www.wcvb.com/article/plane-emergency-landing-cape-cod-beach-falmouth/65864141 apparently the plane ran out of gas and made an emergency landing. Good thing it was low tide, as the area is usually in...

How would a compromised bellows sink the boat?

Yea, I did not always put those o-rings on the drive shaft, figuring that they won't really do much if the bellows gets compromised. An equal concern is the 'Y' pipe gasket, which can cause an even bigger leak. I don't worry much about that stuff, other than the routine inspections. If the...
