    LiFePO Batteries ???

I've installed the third LiFePO4 battery to the house bank. Fortunately, I had all 3 batteries within 0.03 volts of one another just prior to the installation (13.39 - 13.42 volts). So, hopefully they will be happy as a group. After a day at the mooring with solar charging, all seems good...

    I Got Me a Mercury !!!

Well the special bolt that holds the choke plate and spring in place snapped off in the carburetor housing. I think it had been weakened from prior work by the PO. Anyway, I used the carburetor from my ‘69 motor. Hopefully, the motor will cold start better with the other carburetor. So, far...

How/where do I find part numbers?

My recollection on fuel tank (and other tank) senders is that there are 2 ohms scales . . . USA and European, so you want to make sure you are matching what the gauge is expecting to see for resistance. Google/AI states: "For the standard American version sender (240-30 ohms), you will have...

    I/O (Sterndrive) Conversion to Outboards

As far as outboard brands . . . Mercury? Yamaha? Suzuki? Which would you choose and why?

    I Got Me a Mercury !!!

Not yet . . . :ROFLMAO: But it may be a consideration over the winter. My (defunct) '69 model was re-built (by me) about 8-10 years ago. So, the top bearing/seal assembly that I swapped over was in decent shape. Overall the engine could use a re-fresh.

    I Got Me a Mercury !!!

Quick Update . . . I checked the upper crankcase seal (after tearing the top assembly of the motor apart) and it looks visibly worn and hard to the touch. As a quick remedy, I took the top plate/bearing carrier from my defunct motor, which has newer bearings and seal, and moved it to the '72...

Starting a 1974 Tri-Hull Restoration, it's a Stryker Mark IV model. Need help with any information or an owners manual.

The pictures posting is temporarily not working. We are trying to get that fixed. It happened a year or 2 ago. Bear with us.

How/where do I find part numbers?

Boat manufacturers publish very little information for serviceability (as you know). My approach on boat specific parts has always been to access/remove the part and grab the mfg. name and any numbers off of it as much as possible, then go Googling.

    I Got Me a Mercury !!!

It has what I think is an oil recirculating line going from the plate over the intake ports to the lower crankcase. I do not see anything to the upper crankcase area. For now I leaned out the engine and will try some additional cold starts.

    I Got Me a Mercury !!!

Quick update and maybe a question for @racerone and a few others . . . I have set the idle mixture fairly rich so that the engine would start (on choke). The idle starts fairly high (not sure of the RPM), but it is a little higher than I may want to shift. After a few minutes of running, the...

    I/O (Sterndrive) Conversion to Outboards

I don't have pricing on OB's yet (working on that), but my estimates are in the $85K range after fire-saleing the I/O's and doing the hull extension myself. You are one of my dedicated followers. (y) I am thinking that difference between asking price and selling price is going to be an issue...

    I/O (Sterndrive) Conversion to Outboards

This thread is appropriately titled as such . . . so it could certainly be continued 😆 Here is my quick cost estimate on a sell (338 I/O) then buy (338 OB) option . . . Sell 338 I/O - $110,000 Buy 338 OB $249,000 Sales Tax $15,500 Travel/Transport $10,000 (as needed)...

    I/O (Sterndrive) Conversion to Outboards

Yes, I have been checking. . . Of course my boat is also coming down in value, so the 'upgrade price' is still significant. Other factors are . . . > I'm not in love with how CY did the outboard versions. They took away about 15" of swim platform space with a notch, rather than a mere...

Following along . . . Additional comments: > The boat looks chopper gun made, so expect to do a lot of repairs below deck > Wood structure? Stringers, transom, bulkheads? These things may need replacing >Looks like much of the gelcoat has 'burnt off' from sun and weather exposure. So you...

    Compression test

A cylinder leak test may be more revealing than the compression numbers. In general, your engine is OK, but not great. Did you do the compression test with throttle wide open? I like to do the compression tests with the outdrive off (can't always do this) and battery being charged...
