Source for bearing buddies rubber plug

Some days I drive 3 miles to launch. Some days I drive 500 miles to launch. If 3 miles was the standard for me then the bearings could be in pretty bad shape and make the trip many times… maybe indefinitely. 500 miles on the other hand, you really don’t want question marks on your hubs when...

Source for bearing buddies rubber plug

If you have never repacked your bearings then how do you know if they are any good?

Source for bearing buddies rubber plug

I agree but If you actually pull the hubs every other year then I think everything else is a waste of money. Low use trailers are worse. Trailers that sit will have more bearing issues than trailers that are used. Corrosion usually forms where the rollers contact the race first. The only way to...

    502 Bad Gateway

What causes this? I have been seeing it a lot in this forum the last few days. Reloading the page usually clears it. Using Chrome on an iPhone.

    Girlie Ads on the Site

I set up my browser to delete cookies and history when I close it. I get nearly zero junk emails and typically see only random ads for products I usually do not care about. Passwords and website personal settings are generally stored in cookies. Special allowances have to be set up to keep...

    Flat tire on haul-out today . . .

My F150 alerts around 27 psi but my tires start at 35. It doesn’t tell which tire is low. Just that one is. I don’t know a thing about the system other than it has been working since 2008 and it is handy. I have gotten the light several times out driving and it gives me the opportunity to...

Source for bearing buddies rubber plug

I have Dexter axles. My question remains and is valid. Pumping a tube of grease through an axle isn’t the same as removing the hub and doesn’t allow for any kind of inspection. I have seen a few axles run until bearing failure because people mistakenly thought all they had to do was pump in a...

    Menards plywood

Why would Menards mean he is north of Kentucky? I know I shopped them west of the Mississippi but generally stick with my local lumberyard before hitting Lowes, Home Depot then Menards.

How exactly? I would very much like to see an axle nut removed through the hole for that rubber plug.

HP 60 EFI: Change oil filter without draining oil?

It varies by manufacturer. Mercury recommends oil and filter together on the ones I take care of. Suzuki is the only one that comes to mind as being different but I do both regardless.

I think you would be better off to throw what you have in the trash and get plain caps. Bearing buddies and the like cannot replace proper maintenance.

    Trailer Tongue Too Long?

I’m sure my folks and I would have gotten an earful from law enforcement had they caught me. That would have been about 1974 (when no one cared yet if you smoked pot or drove drunk). There would not have been any threats about not getting a license until turning 21. Sheriffs department drove...

    Trailer Tongue Too Long?

Farm life was different. No one batted an eye at the eight year old driving the pickup on the highway to get to the field to spend all day driving a tractor.

    Trailer Tongue Too Long?

If you really want to confuse someone, sit them behind a 3 on the tree shifter. It seems to baffle even experienced stick drivers!

The engine starts but has problem with idle then not start any more

Check fuel pressure and/or try pumping up the primer bulb if it has one. Saw a Mercruiser a while back that did what you described. The fuel pump was in the process of failing.

Opinions of engine owners. Least trouble and lower cost. Carburetor or F I ?

I was working an early 70’s Mercury O/B last winter. I think the only ignition parts readily available for it was the spark plugs.

Opinions of engine owners. Least trouble and lower cost. Carburetor or F I ?

I get what is being said about sourcing parts but, as an owner of 2 Willys jeeps, most parts available for the old stuff is crap unless you can score new old stock. Ignition parts seem to be the worst. There have been a lot of horror stories about gears and bearings not being hardened to spec.

Opinions of engine owners. Least trouble and lower cost. Carburetor or F I ?

It can be hard to find boat parts for boats 5 years old. I know of one manufacturer that won’t talk to you if the boat is more than 5 years old.

Opinions of engine owners. Least trouble and lower cost. Carburetor or F I ?

I have become a big fan of EFI over the years. I love being able to bump the key and go any time, any temperature. Not needing to constantly work on it is a plus too.
