    New Stuff on Vehicles likes/dislikes

FWIW. My Monte Carlo purchased new in 1977 cost $5695. Today that's around $30,000. My new toyota was $28,800 out the door. So it's not like cars have dramatically increased in cost. My dollar buys a lot less though. But complexity, repairability? eh.

so much to add, but just can't When my sons received their drivers licenses, the first thing I did before they made their first drive by themselves was go out to the car and I stood there and said, ok, change the tire....by yourself.

    New Stuff on Vehicles likes/dislikes

and much more I'd like to rant on. Some you can't mention because of the topic. It has been a slow erosion and elimination of self sufficiency, hands on, personal work ethic, the handyman concept. Where has the "home" repairman? gone. I just repaired a clothes dryer that was squealing. It was a...

    Pontoon trailer bunks…

I have a 24' that I re-did the bunks on. The original problem with my lags were that they rusted to the point they wouldn't hold. I believe they were galvanized but I'm talking 2006. I found stainless steel ones, 1/1/4". And the threads are cut sharper. I used yellow pine and also left the...

Aqua Patio w/a 2004 75hp Yamaha outboard no power

start with checking the kill switch. Check the ignition switch. Check neutral. When I say check, I mean do a good examination of connections. Using a DM for current checks. From there, you'll need to begin tracing back to see where the break/problem is. Or start at the battery. my initial guess...

    Trailer Load musings

sorry, I don't intend to imply tongue weight is not important because it is. But if you have no problems towing, then what does it matter. If it's too light, you'll know it.....if it's too heavy, you'll know it. my axles are not welded, but I think my spring mounts are. Regardless, moving them...

    Trailer Load musings

yep. I went from a 60 hp to a 115hp, and wondered if it would mess things up for trailering, but it didn't. So I don't care exactly what my tongue weight is. It'a tandem. I don't know what my options would have been if it messed things up as my bow stop is not adjustable.

    Transom saver or no?

you're not The tilt latch is not to be used for trailering according to my merc. manufacturer. Even for my 60 the manual said no. Doesn't mean you can't, but....My placard says 115hp max, doesn't mean I can't physically put a bigger motor on it, but...... my saver twists into the center mounted...
