    1978 Islander 22 I/O

I got a little more information about the engine I'm going t look at. It's a remanufactured engine (explains the low hours). The company that rebuilt it, Vesuvio Marine Engines, has been out of business for about 15 years but seems to have been pretty reputable. I talked to a vendor that used to...

    1978 Islander 22 I/O

I've been digging into what is going to be involved with switching this boat over to a 4.3 and wow... What did I get myself into. Me and my big mouth... lol... I've been looking over some of the builds on iboats (@Watermann did this on his Chief), called MerCruiser, emailing Starcraft back and...

    1978 Islander 22 I/O

There's not much new to report. I've been getting the trailer to a reliable condition. I don't think it's going to ultimately be the trailer for this boat but nonetheless I'll be using it a lot and it needs to be reliable. I did a quick job of hooking up lights, having new tires mounted today...

    1978 Islander 22 I/O

The boat has a 120 Mercruiser in it. If I'm going to refurbish it, I'm thinking now might be the time to upgrade to a 6 cylinder. The 120 might be good for normal use but you don't want to chance being underpowered going onto the Great Lakes. Does anybody have any recommendations for a...

    1978 Islander 22 I/O

I made an unplanned visit to marketplace and saw this thing hanging out there, one hour away, listed for $650 as a 1972 Starcraft "Trlr Coach"... I quickly got the admirals permission (of course), arranged to go check it out and found a 1978 22' Islander, all the wood rotted out but a perfect...

    1968 StarCraft Holiday restoration

I'm just now seeing this... There aren't words. That was a fantastic build and a beautiful boat. At least you got to see it complete in all of its glory. When I was close to finishing mine, I remember being so scared that something would happen to it, and I would never get to see what I had...

    1968 StarCraft Holiday restoration

I haven't really been on iBoats much in the last year or two, just getting caught up on your build. Outstanding! This is definitely one of the best builds I've seen on here!

2022 Starcraft Splash of the Year Nomination Thread

I was asked to post some pictures of my boat, so here's a few. The first one was taken during the interior project. It shows it on the trailer I built during the first phase of my project and the other three are the interior and exterior shots of it. I have two different threads for my build...

    1966 Starcraft Holiday Interior Work

I used Ford's website and built an F150 XLT and a F250 XLT. My trim is doctored up XLT, a step under the Lariat. For me the F250 ended up being cheaper. I advise anybody considering a 1/2 ton to look at the lighter duty, GAS, 3/4-ton trucks. In my case I got a 6.2L versus the 5.0L that comes in...

    1966 Starcraft Holiday Interior Work

I ordered from our local dealership. The car salesman said something about the 23s headlights changing. He said they will basically look the same, but something about how they're made is going to make them extremely expensive (for headlights) to replace. I think he said it's basically going to...

    1966 Starcraft Holiday Interior Work

Update: The boat ran really good this summer and the interior held up well. I finally ended up getting the truck I ordered last November and I'm really happy with it so far. For what I paid and what the used trucks are going for I have no regrets. It's a light duty F250 XLT with the gas 6.2. I...

    1966 Starcraft Holiday Interior Work

Thanks! I think they did a great job too. Coming along a little more today, just a few loose ends to get wrapped up. I think the trouble to have the custom throttle bezel made was worth it.

    1966 Starcraft Holiday Interior Work

They're going to start on my side panels this week, so it shouldn't be too much longer, and my boat will be on the water this year. Meanwhile, they finished my custom mat and I tried that out today. It fits great! I need to widen the hole to fit around the hotrod post a little. I think it looks...

    1966 Starcraft Holiday Interior Work

A few months ago I decided I wanted to tinker with an oudrive a little. It's iBoats history from a few pages back in this thread. I bought the boat for $400, removed my drive, scrapped the boat and put some used tires back on the trailer. Today I sold that trailer. I was asking $650, hoping to...
