    94 Cris Craft Concept 268

One thing to keep in mind as you continue your boat search is how much of the work can you realistically do yourself? If you need to rely on taking the boat somewhere look around at what shops are near you and what they support. while the King Cobra is a different animal than the cobra, it...

Mercruiser 888 (302) Cylinder Head swap?

this is exactly what is being recommended to me for my 65 Pontiac engine rebuild. Well known Pontiac engine builder told me that the hardened seats are not necessary. Also can run into issues when pressing them in and hitting water jackets as these older heads were not cast to have inserts. This...

    Ballast Resistor or not?

If the points have not been replaced with pertronix etc then yes this is correct. During crank voltage drops a bit anyways, normal on points ignition to bypass the resistor for hotter spark and quicker starting. yes the shift interrupt grounds the negative side of the coil to momentarily kill...

MerCruiser 5.0 Carb Engine Compression Test, Two Piston came back with Zero

How many is a few years ? Yes I would assume the valves are hung up or the seats are corroded. You can probably pop a valve cover, take the rockers off and smack the valves with a dead blow. would also put some marvel mystery oil in the cylinders let it soak . Typically when engines have sat I...

    Trailer bleeding brakes. Part 2

Gotta make sure bleeder screw is on up side of caliper. Many time ( not always) they can be swapped side to side and bleeder may not be on up side of caliper. i think the hose comes in on top instead of in bottom of caliper ? my tie downs were in same location. are you bleeding properly put...

    Shiftcable question A1G2

That’s great was struggling to see how if you don’t remove it how it got messed up on a gen 2 …Did not know it can be clocked differently, assumed it was only in one way… ok yes as long as the roller stays in the shift cable end ( grease will hold it)you should be in business.

    Shiftcable question A1G2

Doesnt make sense if you didn’t remove … the ccw is from behind the prop. When in fwd the prop when turned ccw will lock will ratchet clockwise. When in fwd turn the input shaft in upper clockwise, propshaft will turn clockwise

    Shiftcable question A1G2

no, just that the roller on the end can become disengaged from the shift cable end when putting the drive on. did you remove the stainless shift shaft from the lower? See BT drs comments above

    Salt water leak

Check and see if the clamps or rubber connectors at top of Wye pipe are leaking when the engine is running. If it was leaking at bottom of wye pipe this would leak while not running as it is under water.

    Shiftcable question A1G2

I’m talking about the lever with the wheel in it that swivels in the bellhousing this can get dislodged from the gray ‘end’ to the shift cable you reference. It will still move the shift lever some just not index correctly. Part number 20 in link...

    Shiftcable question A1G2

I’m thinking the lever came off the end of the shift cable when remounting the drive . This is in the bellhousing area , usually use grease to hold them together but they make a plastic tool to hold it. It’s like a $8 part… pull the drive back off and I think that’s what you will see. unlike a...
