    Flushing port on 2012 VP 300 C-A

Yes. It will be on my spring list to do. But given the boat is stored on a rack I am not sure how much I need anodes at all. But I will certainly have all of them and in proper condition.

    Flushing port on 2012 VP 300 C-A

Yes glad it's done. Looks to be going down to 22F Sunday. Just need to cover the boat to prevent dust for the winter. It's inside on a rack.

    Flushing port on 2012 VP 300 C-A

The hoses came off with much issue. Everything is now drained in the raw water side. The anode screwed into the heat exchanger looked more like a drain plug than a sacrificial anode.

It's a OXI model. Made with options for salt water.

    Flushing port on 2012 VP 300 C-A

What about pulling off the raw water pump that should be the same as pulling off the hoses? And or could put the raw water pump with hoses attached in a bucket of hot water for a few minutes.

    Flushing port on 2012 VP 300 C-A

I struggled with overheating exhaust manifolds this summer due to air in the closed cooling system so I am almost positive the exhaust manifolds are filled with coolant. I am fine with draining if I can get all the hoses off.

    Flushing port on 2012 VP 300 C-A

It has closed cooling so VP VCS coolant in the engine and exhaust manifold. I just need to winterize the raw water side. No thermostat involved.

    V8-320-c-b

Given that mechanics who will work on VP outdrives are few and far between you need to have a tool to interface to the VP ECM. I bought a Diacom and a small screen laptop. It's a great product.

    Flushing port on 2012 VP 300 C-A

I was going to finish winterizing my boat on Nov 6th and went to the marina that Sunday but starting Nov 1 they are not open on Sundays until spring. Too bad as it was a nice warm day. I am down to the wire now before it gets below freezing. Marina turned off the outside water today. The VP...

    Flushing port on 2012 VP 300 C-A

I was considering using a Milwaukee M18 transfer pump to pump in antifreeze from a 5 gallon container into the flush port with the engine idling.

    Flushing port on 2012 VP 300 C-A

The is a blue cap to a flushing port next to the head of the engine. Garden hose fitting. What is to prevent the water from going back out through the outdrive inlet instead of into the sea water pump? And what prevents the sea water pump from pulling in air through the outdrive inlet? Assume...

Gas container for winterizing fuel injected VP engine

What kind of a gas container do people use to winterize a fuel injected injected engine? Can I just stick fuel line in a QT of 50 to 1 two cycle fuel? For a V8 engine is the fuel line likely to be 1/4" or 5/16" or 3/8"? While I do not want to spend a lot of money on this I do not want a...

Exhaust elbow for Volvo Penta engine with catalytic converter

Over time there will be fewer and few engines without catalytic converters. So the aftermarket will dry up. Is it just VP or no exhaust parts for Mercruiser with catalytic converters either?

Exhaust elbow for Volvo Penta engine with catalytic converter

Has anyone found an aftermarket source for exhaust elbows for Volvo Penta gas engines with catalytic converter? I am told they are only OEM, not aftermarket.

    2012 VP 300 C-A Exhaust manifolds getting too hot - DTC 441 & 442

Yes I recently found out about Fleetguard yellow OAT coolant as a direct replacement for VP VCS. That means (I think) you can top off with Fleetguard yellow OAT. What is your winterization plan?

    2012 VP 300 C-A Exhaust manifolds getting too hot - DTC 441 & 442

I finally got the workshop manuals for my engine. I ordered them from Volvo Penta and they were shipped from Sweden. You would think Volvo Penta would stock them in the USA. The Seloc manual is worthless compared to the Volvo Penta workshop manuals.

First time winterizing my boat myself.

In reality there are additives in the motor oil that deal with the acid from combustion byproducts until the TBN reaches about 1. Of course doing an oil analysis to find out the TBN cost about as much as changing the oil.
