    I have never seen one like that but a very good solution for engines with the small bolt pattern replacing an earlier large style pattern. I used to take the early style couplers to a machine shop so that it would fit the later style engine.

    Just for an experiment leave the engine cover open while on plane and duplicate the slowing down procedure. If it stays running, you could be getting vapor lock from heat in the engine enclosure.

    A Holley is happy at 1.5 turns from lightly seated. Maybe 1/4 either way. Any radical amounts to try and correct a problem means something else is wrong. Quite often the gasket under the metering block has shrunken and uncovers some other metered passages.
