Bought my first boat to cut, gut and rebuild from bow to stern, including engine. Killed my back and suffered the wrath of the fiberglass demons

This is understandable. I am researching YouTube, but am also consulting you guys as well to make sure I am covering all avenues. I am going to wait on the motor for now until I can either build a new stand with 4x4s and 2x4s, or potentially pull and replace the transom and then mount it to the...

Bought my first boat to cut, gut and rebuild from bow to stern, including engine. Killed my back and suffered the wrath of the fiberglass demons

The engine came with the supporting control box that had all the wiring and ignition right in the box itself, so I am good there. Might consider replacing the wiring down the line as the jacket that is covering the wires is all brittle and cracking......but I didn't realize I might have to...

Bought my first boat to cut, gut and rebuild from bow to stern, including engine. Killed my back and suffered the wrath of the fiberglass demons

How do you connect the steering to the engine on the stand? I read your previous recommendations about this and I am still confused as to how to go about this. There is no steering mechanism at the engine except for the little hole in the back that some pole or bar of some sort goes through. I...

Bought my first boat to cut, gut and rebuild from bow to stern, including engine. Killed my back and suffered the wrath of the fiberglass demons

You mean in the middle of the flywheel? Wouldn't that be spinning like mad if the engine is running? That;s what I was referring to. If the engine is shaking or moving a little erratically, is there a safe way to have the cherry picker hooked up in case the engine decides to dance and the stand...

    HI! New Here!

Hello! I am also pretty new here. I am working on a project boat myself currently. It is a 17 footer, and will be able to hold about 3 grown adults or 750lbs. I am rebuilding it with a porta potty, females and children with tiny bladders in mind, and if I can have my way, I will have a section...

Bought my first boat to cut, gut and rebuild from bow to stern, including engine. Killed my back and suffered the wrath of the fiberglass demons

OK I will have it sit for now and get it bolted down first thing when I have a free day. Is it too much also if I were to attach the hook on top of the engine to the cherry picker for added support in case the stand decided to tip?

Bought my first boat to cut, gut and rebuild from bow to stern, including engine. Killed my back and suffered the wrath of the fiberglass demons

What do you mean when you say to establish a way to keep the motor from zipping to one side? What is the pisser?

Bought my first boat to cut, gut and rebuild from bow to stern, including engine. Killed my back and suffered the wrath of the fiberglass demons

Put my cherry picker to use today. Getting the engine mounted on the stand was difficult.... because the back wheels in the stand were wider than the width of the crane. There was no easy way to get the crane right above the mount.... but I eventually and carefully got it seated. The blue cut...
