Not anymore. @kenny nunez is though.

1996 SeaRay 215 Express Cruiser electrical issue

So your wiring is buggered. Your oil pressure switch is bypassed. Dangerous. Google can tell you in detail, but basically you test for voltage between 2 points on the same wire/circuit. Put 1 end of your meter on either end of a wire for example, with a current flowing through the circuit...

1996 SeaRay 215 Express Cruiser electrical issue

Check out the diagram I posted. Pur/yel is energized off the starter during cranking and powers the fuel pump. When the op switch closes it back feeds the pump through the p/y wire. Tbolts don't have the resistance wires so always 12v from purple to the coil. I think everyone agrees that a bad...

You don't. You're measuring something wrong. If the ignition is on, yes. No. You're still all over the place with your testing. You've had a bunch of specific questions asked that you aren't answering, and keep just checking random unrelated things.

    Mercruiser 4.3 Temp Alarm Question

All of the gauge senders are separate from the alarm switches. A closed/faulty switch anywhere in the alarm circuit will trip the alarm regardless of what the gauge is reading.

Mercruiser 305 V8 running hot at low RPM fine at Speed

That's probably the most likely explanation, meaning it should run fine either way. Also could be that the 140 allows a higher safety margin or that running that 160 in salt could be more corrosive.

1996 SeaRay 215 Express Cruiser electrical issue

Still not seeing that wire anywhere but on the starter. Here's the diagram from service manual #24, which I think is yours. If that wire goes to the alt, you'd essentially be bypassing your oil pressure switch and your fuel pump would be running with the engine off. Someone correct me if I'm...

1996 SeaRay 215 Express Cruiser electrical issue

Doesn't sound like you actually did a voltage drop test. Continuity doesn't cut it. How are you measuring alt output? What's the reading at the battery with motor running? My money is bad helm connections. Your volt meter isn't getting full voltage, so neither is purple wire feeding your...

Mercruiser 305 V8 running hot at low RPM fine at Speed

Ok, well... Looks like it's pretty random what got what. Newer v6/V8 trends towards 160, but many engines come with either. Older were mostly/all 140 that I see. No clear cut crossover if vortec or 4bbl. The fi models I looked at were all 160. So I stand corrected and idk if it matters.

Typically the raw waters get 140's, I think some of the efis have 160.

    Gimbal Bearing Cheap

Couldn't find anything about the manufacturer... There are a million Chinese bearings on there, any reason to think these are good quality? I found a place when I was looking based in the us (still have it) that was sent by mistake. But I wanted a sealed unit. Don't remember the name off hand

Mercruiser 305 V8 running hot at low RPM fine at Speed

First quantify your output. We're looking at a crappy Internet video. Eyeball the hose for starters. Assuming your old pump was in one piece, low flow issue most likely coming from your out drive. If it was running ok prior to you messing with it, it's probably an issue with the impeller...

Mercruiser 305 V8 running hot at low RPM fine at Speed

That looks like low flow to me at idle, and just a mess above idle. You want something like 20 gpm, probably a bit less at idle and on muffs. Edit: Scott beat me to it, what he said.

That's what the clear hose I mentioned is for. Bubbles if you're sucking air from anywhere.

Mercruiser 305 V8 running hot at low RPM fine at Speed

I meant to say check balls *easy* to check. I think it would be difficult to overtighten, you want them closed at idle, they prevent the cooling water from going straight out the elbows.

Upgrade from small swim platform to large?

Looks like a nice upgrade. If the transoms rotted you'll figure it out soon enough when you start trying to attach things. As mentioned the real key is to make sure you have access to the transom inside--you'll need to bolt all the way through. My transom doesn't extend the full width of the...

Fix gel coat or use keel guard

The shipping of the resin is the killer. IIRC there is no discount when you order multiple gallons so might as well order them as you go unless you're in a hurry

Mercruiser 305 V8 running hot at low RPM fine at Speed

I...I just can't. But yes, loose balls are ready to check. How do you drain the cooler to winterize? Assuming it overheats on muffs? If so putting a hose into the t stat intake will isolate the problem to one side of the hose. If it's on the supply side of the drive, check for both flow and...

    Lost gearage?

Yeah, your sister drives are useless unfortunately. Some 5.0 came with 1.65, didn't know the 5.7 did though. Agree with Scotts comment about the transom... I'd make extra sure it's sound before continuing
