A small town not far from us, has rules on parking trailers in driveways. Only in back yard or in drive behind a fence. Now here is the real kicker...you can park a trailer in the street where legal parking is accepted ! Yep...the little two lane street is filled with camping trailers and...

1971 Glastron GT160 Rear Drain Hole Question

Save your motor and look for a decent aluminum hull, you won't have all that rotten wood to deal with...at best a floor and transom, but much easier and less expensive as well as better resale value !!

    Proline listing to port

What about the stuff stored in storage ares, anything heavy? Some folks carry 75 lbs of tools that never get used. Anchors and other heavy items all stored to one side can make it list. Where is the fuel tank, aux outboard motor? Boat owners often need to re arrange the load to balance their...

    Dynous inflatable question

30 yr old inflatable, the only great price would be free. Years back I was told their life expectancy was around 15 years. If this boat was never used and still holds air, it might be worth a few bucks but not much....it is gonna go poof shortly.

    '74 Evinrude 9.9 Issue

Never run an outboard wide open in a test tank, wait for on the water to test wot. Many times the compression will come up after running if it has set for years. All carb adjustments should be made in the water whole underway in the water. Test tanks are for testing and making rough...

Possible purchase of 73 Chrysler cadet

Parts are hard to impossible to find for Chrysler motors. Old glass boats have a wood skeleton that rots away after 15-20 years. Fiberglass is weak without the wood skeleton. Just a couple years back I bought a 16' aluminum Sylvan with a 40 to Need in life or new condition fully loaded with...

    Floor in houseboat

Please bare in mind that myself and many others on here have been around boats for over 60 years. I have watched more rotted boats come apart and sink than I have fingers and toes to count on. A few of them included fatalities. We don't want to see more of this happen ! Why we may sound...

    Floor in houseboat

Do it as cheap as possible because nothing will last more than a few years. Make sure everyone on board wears a life jacket at all times. Remember, if UT were to sunk, you are responsible for the cost of pulling it out of the water. No insurance company will cover a rotten old boat. Just...

    New Journey

I have always enjoyed fixing small out boards and thought it would be a great retirement hobby. Well guess what, it seems everyone else enjoys fixing small outboards ! Haven't found one in decent condition in the past 5 years that didn't need a second mortgage on my house.

    1987 2.5L Mercruiser inboard/outboard

E10 fuel is fine, but yes, do run a fuel stabilizer ! Been using E10 since it came out with O issues, but you need to follow up with a stabilizer. At the end of the season, either fill your tank full or drain it dry. I would recomend using the 89 octane fuel....

Rust, generally how to clean and best spray to keep it from rusting?

40 bucks for a new winch sounds way to cheap...probably Chinesium junk.

What gas do I use in my boat???

Higher octane fuel burns slower and will be less effecient in a low compression engine. 87 or 89 is all you need unless you like spending money.
