So that crossflow 2 strk designed in the 50s gets better fuel mileage than a new 4 4strk?

How much outboard motors have improved.

Seriously nobody is going to comment on the 3 gallons of gas in 4 hrs?

How much outboard motors have improved.

You do realize how old that 4 cylinder design is don't you? And hard to believe it only used 3 gallons of gas in 4hrs of hard running. If your top Rpm at full throttle is only 4700-4800 rpm you might need a different prop.

1991 Johnson 175hp J175EXEIS Will only start and run using primer bulb

O rings being bad makes no sense at all. If the orings were bad and the fuel pump good gas would be shooting everywhere. What is your compression? Do you have spark on all cylinders? The fact it only runs if you pump the ball points directly to the fuel pump. Fuel side rebuild kits are around...

Help please! 1988 Johnson outboard lack of power and stalls.

Yes there is only one. That needs to be in 1 piece does it have a clear covering on it? Do both carbs move at the same time. Maybe time for you to invest in a factory manual.

very cool carb and intake manifold causing moisture

Are you still doing this all in your Driveway? E 10 is fine to run in that motor no need to waste your money on more expensive gas. Racer is right about the gas cooling the carb down. And about the doing a link and sync.

Help please! 1988 Johnson outboard lack of power and stalls.

You either did not put the nozzle gasket on. That goes inside the float bowl. Or you put the top gasket on backwards. The idle circuit is in that top cover. To set the float hold the carb upside down and set the float to level.

    Mercury 115 2+2

I would be very careful about overevving that motor. Anything over 5250 and there is a great chance of breaking a piston skirt. Get a tach if it doesn't have one.

Another day another motor, another problem. Help, please

I think those #s are fine for that motor.

    Mercury 115 2+2

What is the health of the motor? A 19" pitch aluminum would be a good all around prop for that. Your MAX Rpms should be 5250. A 10" pitch should have sent the RPMs through the roof. A 10" would be a terrible choice for skiing. I buy the Factory manual for that motor and start doing test.
