    OMC uses a fork and pin setup, any gear is acceptable but you should put it in F to install it. This way you turn the prop shaft to line up the inputshaft splines

    I have log style manifolds with raw water cooling, are the stainless plates typically reused or replaced? That SS plate is used for motors having A/F in the manifold , the elbow/riser has its own raw water hose

    the 165 is not an inline 6 , you would need everything from that purchase, exaust ,front mounts, and depending on you boats year maybe the transom housing from the purchase

    I suspect your pump is mounted well forward of the transom.If you have 1 inch of water at the pump you could have 5 inches at the transom when you power up. The water goes into the rear housing and floods the starter

    from the upper its usually the inputshaft seal. Pulling the drive will show oil in the bellow From the hole in the lower, its the shaft seal under the water pumpor the Quad seal between the unit
