    1987 4.3l 205 high oil pressure

The pressure wouldn't be higher though, right?

    Stalls on acceleration under load

It's glued on. Either smoosh it with some pliers or someone on here recently cut it off with a solder gun or something which seemed like a good idea.

Have you pulled the plugs and tried?

    slipping coupler?

As far as changing the coupler, it requires an engine pull. Other causes are internal to the drive--sheared driveshaft, grenaded gears. If it's a drive issue, the input shaft will spin, but the prop won't in gear. If it's the coupler, nothing will turn when you bump the engine. The fact that it...

Boat only idles after running fine for 20 minutes

First try unscrewing your gas cap when it happens. If you hear a hiss then your vent is plugged. Next start chasing fuel problems. Check/replace your fuel filters. Then check fuel pressure, rebuild the carb...

    A1G2 decisions. Rebuild or replace?

That's the conclusion I reached on mine. Could never get the alignment quite right, and the issue persisted on the new engine. Presumably it's been like that for 36 years, and at least 13.

    Slave solenoid

The slave also supplies a full 12v to the coil while starting. Not as big a deal if you have an electronic ignition conversion but probably makes a difference with points.

Boat swamped, let's see if we can get it running...

Oh wow, that never crossed my mind. I think I have a couple of those kicking around. Bulbs and kids both.

Idles great / misses when throttled up

I'll roll the dice if it won't leave me stranded or if the labor involved in redoing it isn't bad. I've had plenty of good luck with aftermarket parts over the years... Although it seems like there's a lot more super cheap crap around now that wasn't there even 10 years ago

Boat swamped, let's see if we can get it running...

Yeah, connectors looked good. I cleaned them up anyway. The plug iirc looked pretty stout as well with a sealing o-ring. That's reassuring. Sensor is 3 wire. Wishful thinking about the speakers I know. You should have seen the connections on the amp. Trying real hard to not end up dead in the...

Bad idea to put your email out here. The troubleshooting info is in the adults only section. @achris

    A1G2 decisions. Rebuild or replace?

Don't know how much experience you have putting the drive back on, but I find that the key is aligning the drive to be perfectly level with the bell housing when you slide it in. The shaft can definitely flop otherwise. Turning the prop 90' so the u joints are flopping in a different direction...

Boat swamped, let's see if we can get it running...

Yeah, at this point it's personal. If I had any sense I would have cashed in my chips on a boat that I bought for 4k 13 years ago. This same attitude unfortunately applies to every aspect of my life, which is why I'm always stressed about getting things done. Wondering if it would be worth...

Boat swamped, let's see if we can get it running...

Just when I think I can let this thread die... Good news: Boat doesn't seem to be leaking anymore. Going to remove the marine adhesive and just plug with marine tex. Not sure why I thought that I wanted to screw around with poly resin. Bad news: More electrical gremlins. Made it about 6 miles...

7.4mpi just started running rough and with gas coming out exhaust

Don't know what the TB looks like on that, but I had the screws snap on my distributor for the cap. Was about to go helicoil route when I realized i could just drill straight through and use a screw with a nut on the other end

    Merc 470 coil problem

Your coil should be getting less than 10v.

    Converting 260MIE RH to LH.

No, but you could take the armature and windings out of the auto starter. Or put the marine bits into the auto starter (what is there besides the screen?).
