    The electronics under the cap is the ignition sensor. Did you ever verify that your timing is advancing?

    Not sure why you're quoting my post when none of my questions were answered or suggestions followed, but get an ir gun and check your temperatures

    1. Go to wrecker yard 2. Find one of the zillions of 5.7l engine there. 3. Grab a head for $20 4. Get a new head gasket for $50 Spend ½ day swapping. Go boating.

    The 470's first year was '76. So who knows what you have in there. Post some pics Edit: rereading... Do you have a 4 or 6 cyl? Don't think there was a 3.7l 6.

    Yeah, pour the contents into a clear container to see what you get. All of those stores rent tools, some you wouldn't think of. I've rented flaring tools, bearing drivers, balance installers, drum brake tools (!) etc. AutoZone and advance don't have a time limit on how long you can keep them.
